• Pre-Raphaelites encouraged studying nature in order to improve the artist’s ability to represent it expressively.

• You are going to pick a partner to work with, and you will each draw the other as a study of the human figure.

• These will be gestural, so they will have a sketchy quality that is expressive in the manner of the Pre-Raphaelites

• You can focus on the face, or the whole body, but the point is to communicate an emotion either through facial expression or body language.
