A SUMMER OF COMPETITION.

VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!

CLINICSClinics help players learn the fundamentals and

refi nements of their skills, in the respective sports.

They also help teach competitive play in a Christian

Faith-based environment. Participants will learn

the basics and see advancements in their skills as

they are placed into teams for friendly scrimmages.

The Kroc Center Hawaii Youth Sports philosophy

is inclusion, fair play, team work, exercise and fun-

friendly competition! Each participant will receive a

clinic T-shirt.

ATHLETIC CENTER RENTALSOur large Athletic Center Complex is perfect for

team practices and physical education and is

available for you to host a variety of sporting events

for school, church or club activities.

ATHLETIC CENTEROur Athletic Center has plenty of spacious court

space for you to enjoy basketball, volleyball, and

many other activities. Current open hours are listed

on the Class & Facilities schedule available online.

The Athletics department of Kroc Center Hawaii consists of sports clinics, sports leagues,

and coaching from youth to adult ages. We also offer other unique sporting opportunities

such as tournaments and much, much more. Our two court gymnasium is equipped to

host sports and programs such as basketball, volleyball, futsal, and more. The Kroc Center

Athletic Program philosophy is inclusion, fair play, team work, exercise and fun-friendly

competition!

ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT (808) 693-8344

PICKUP GAME POLICY Pickup basketball and volleyball are designed for adults ages 18 and over to play a few friendly

games. Players under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian present in the gym at all times.

If there are multiple players or teams are waiting, a wait list will be created in the kiosk by the Gym

Attendant to sign up your team for the next game. This will allow an organized way for teams to

compete. The next team on the list will be on the side of the court keeping score.

BASKETBALL: Games are to 21 by 1’s and 2’s. Since there are no offi cial referees on-site for

basketball, players will have to call their own fouls and ref their own games. No shooting free

throws, as fouls will be taken out at half court.

VOLLEYBALL: Minimum of 6 players. Games are to 21. Next team will ref the game by calling

serve, net violations, and provide two (2) line judges.

To allow everyone the opportunity to compete, the winning team will stay on the court for a

maximum of two (2) consecutive games. On their second win, the losing team will stay on and the

winning team can be placed back on the wait list in the kiosk.

Come join other adults who wish to play sports in an atmosphere that is compliant with The

Salvation Army policies and procedures of Kroc Center Hawaii. The Kroc Center Hawaii Athletic

Center has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY — NO CUSSING OR FIGHTING. Players who do so will be

dismissed immediately from the Athletic Center and be asked NOT to return until the next day. Kroc

Center Hawaii memberships can and will be revoked if deemed necessary by the Member Services

Desk.

For more information, please see the Member Services Desk or gym attendant for policies and

procedures and rules regarding membership at Kroc Center Hawaii.

EFFECTS OF EXERCISE ON AGINGMichael McDonald; Education & Resource Classrooms

Aging is a process that all will go through – muscle fi bers will lose their

connections with one another, causing our muscles to shrink and in turn,

making us weaker. Exercise, especially the use of cross-training (mixing up low

and high impact exercises), can aid in keeping joints intact. A 70-year old’s

muscle mass and bone density can’t be compared to that of a 30-year old. Why

not be the healthiest 70-year old person who has the most muscle mass and

bone density in their age group? Exercise can be the key to achieving this goal.

and organ! Come learn about this fascinating tissue from Anthony
