GET FIERCE. GET FUNDRAISING.

#WEARITWILD

The idea behind Wear it Wild is simple. In workplaces, schools and homes across the country, people will be donning an item of wildlife-inspired clothing – raising money to help protect our incredible world.

We want to see you wear it. Brave it. Rock it. Nail it. Boss it. Strut it. We want to see you work it. Because if we’re going to save our world, we need to be fiercer, braver and louder than we’ve ever been.

So, from the playground to the workplace, no matter how you Wear it Wild, get fierce for your world.

WEAR IT WILDIS FIERCER THAN EVER

WHY IT’S TIME TOWEAR IT WILD

WE ARE THE FIRST GENERATION TO KNOW WE ARE DESTROYING THE WORLD. AND WE COULD BE THE LAST THAT CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.Our world is under threat like never before. Globally we’re all using the planet’s resources faster than nature can restore itself. We are wiping out life on Earth and we are fast approaching the point of no return, when the damage can no longer be undone.

Nature provides our life-support system. We cannot survive without it. So we must all act right now to reverse the damage and restore nature. Together, we can save our world, and help nature and people thrive for future generations.

SINCE 1970 OUR GLOBAL WILDLIFE POPULATIONS HAVE DECLINED BY MORE THAN HALF.

TASK ITOffer to bring a cup of tea or coffee to your colleagues in exchange for a small donation. Or maybe there’s a project you could offer to take off their hands for a fee?

QUIZ IT Whether it’s a speed quiz in a lunch break or an after work social event, get your colleagues together for a wild quiz round. Charge teams a small fee to enter and provide a prize for the most creative team name entry.

DECORATIONSIt’s important to make your school, office or home look fierce for your fundraising day.

You could paint recyclable items including paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and tin cans and use them to decorate your venue. We’ve also got some great downloadable templates online – just visit wwf.org.uk/wearitwild

Or if you do decide to buy decorations, make sure they’re made from biodegradable materials and avoid buying or using plastic decorations, including balloons.

INVITATIONS Instead of sending out paper invitations, invite guests to your Wear it Wild event via email or social media.

TABLEWARETry to use your own plates and cutlery. If that’s not possible or practical try to use plain plates made out of recyclable paper, as they’ll biodegrade, unlike plastic. If you do need to purchase new cutlery, make sure it’s made from biodegradable material such as FSC wood and avoid plastic.

You should also be able to find paper tablecloths that are biodegradable, or invest in some animal print fabric you can use again next year! Alternatively, you could use large sheets of plain white paper. As well as having a low environmental impact, children can decorate them during your Wear it Wild event.

Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan and line your loaf tin with baking parchment.

In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and sugar until it is pale and fluffy. Crack in one egg and beat, making sure to scrape down the batter from the sides of the bowl. Repeat with the remaining two eggs. Add the flour and vanilla and mix to combine.

Keep half the batter in the mixing bowl, then half the remaining mixture into each of the smaller bowls. To one of the smaller bowls add in the cocoa to make a light brown mix. In the other bowl, add black food colouring until the mixture is dark. Place the cake mixture from each of your three bowls into three different pipping bags and get ready to squeeze!

Piping steps for perfect spots Pipe a base layer of white batter to cover the bottom of the loaf tin, then pipe two black stripes lengthways on top (don’t worry if the lines aren’t straight!)

Now pipe two brown lines on top of the black lines, before covering again with a line of black. Cover these completely with a layer of white batter for a clean base to start again! Repeat these steps until you have filled the loaf tin and used all the cake batter.

To finish Bake the cake in the centre of the over for 25-30 minutes until golden or until a skewer into the middle of the cake comes out clean. Once the cake is cool to touch, transfer to a wire rack. Et voilà! Your leopard print loaf is ready for your wild bake sale.

INGREDIENTS• 225g self-raising flour• 225g softened butter• 225g caster sugar• 3 eggs• 1 tsp vanilla extract• 2 tbsp cocoa powder• Black food colouring

Try to buy Fairtrade products – you could even substitute ingredients for vegan alternatives for

a more planet-friendly recipe!

EQUIPMENT• Electric whisk or wooden spoon• 1 loaf tin• 3 mixing bowls (1 large, 2 small)• 3 piping bags with round nozzles• Baking parchment• Wire cooling rack
