Control your business processesTo what extent do you have control over your operational processes? How much time does it take you to solve problems? How much management  time is left to take processes and the organisation  to a higher level and to improve the internal performance of your business?

Every Angle helps you get and keep business processes under control. It is the standard software for monitoring and optimising the operational processes. The software gives you all the control information from SAP ERP that you need: fast, flexible  and action focused.Every Angle helps you stay calm and keep the  overview to make the right decisions everyday.  This boosts your chances to beat your competitors.

SAP ERP: a strong foundationSAP ERP provides a stable technology foundation  for organisations. That is why many organisations choose SAP ERP. It enables standardised business procedures and the ability to store business critical data in one central system.

Subsequently, the data from the SAP ERP system is used to answer questions from various angles in the organisation. Simple questions from a financial point of view, for example those about revenues, costs, gross margins, sales and procurement volumes,  are usually answered by the ERP system directly.

With an (SAP) BI system on top of your SAP ERP system, it is possible to create powerful and standardised financial reports and management reports. It is also possible to combine data from several ERP systems or external data sources in  your own central data warehouse.

However, for monitoring the daily operations, most organisations need another kind of data. These information needs can be divided into operational, management, and IT/SAP support questions. Answers to these questions can result in continual improvement of business processes. This is illustrated in the figure below.

From each perspective, different questions are asked, though they all have the same objective: continual improvement of business processes.  What all information needs have in common is that they ask for overviews and advanced analyses with a high level of detail based on current data.

Operational perspective• Which orders are late and why are

they late?• Which production or maintenance orders

are in danger of being late if we do not take action? How can we prevent this?

• Which customers are in danger of receiving a late delivery next week and what can we do to prevent this?

Management perspective• How can we optimise our processes even more and

reduce our costs?• Are the procurement and production processes under

control and do our suppliers and factories meet our requirements for delivery reliability and quality?

• Where in our processes do we run the highest risks and how can we cover these risks better?

IT/SAP support perspective• Do SAP users use the SAP ERP

system correctly?• What is the quality of the data

in the SAP ERP system?• Does the configuration still match

the organisation and the processes?

Present IT solutions for operational controlFor your advanced analyses with a high level of detail based on current data, and for operational overviews, you depend on the IT possibilities. You must retrieve the data from the SAP ERP system, make it understand -

able and put it in the right context. Subsequently, the data needs to be available in a fl exible way, so you can use it intuitively.The solutions that are currently used to this end are listed in the table below, and they are tested on the basis of a number of requirements.

Every Angle is a standard SAP add-on and runs on a Windows server. Every Angle comprises the following three components:

1. Every Angle extractorThe Every Angle extractor daily copies all necessary tables from the SAP ERP database to the Every Angle server. This extraction is best seen as taking a snapshot of hundreds of tables. The load this places on the SAP-servers is negligible. The extraction is done once or twice a day. The time needed depends on the size of the SAP ERP database.

2. Every Angle serverWhen the download is complete, all necessary  SAP ERP data is available on the Every Angle server.  The server comprises three components, each  playing an important role in the system’s operation:

a. SAP business logic   Using the embedded SAP business logic, Every Angle automatically interprets the SAP customisation. With the aid of the data dictionary, Every Angle converts the database into a set of easily-understood objects.

How does Every Angle work?

b. Order Network Calculation (ONC)   ONC carries out a large number of logistical analyses. It determines interdependencies between supply and processing orders, calculates supply chain bottlenecks and shows stock surpluses and shortages. The case study on the next page shows an example. ONC reveals the chain’s interdependencies and users can quickly and easily click through the chain.

c. Live Intelligent ObjectsTM (LIOTM)   LIOTM is the technology that converts tables  and indexes into the fast world of objects and pointers. LIOTM is thousands of times faster than ABAP technology. This enables the user to produce overviews and analyses intuitively, quickly and flexibly without having to know the complex  SAP ERP data structure.

3. Every Angle clientFinally, with the help of the client Every Angle presents the data simply and clearly to the end-user. End- users can produce valuable reports independently and intuitively in just a few days.

Order Network Calculation (ONC) example

Here’s the situationIn this example, a factory in Rotterdam manufactures a pharmaceutical product that is packaged at the sister company in Amsterdam. Because a supplier of raw material is late with his delivery, a production order will be back-scheduled unless an intervention is made. This delays the transport between Rotterdam and Amsterdam, so the Amsterdam packaging run is also delayed.

How can management get a clear picture of the situation? Can they act early and effectively? What happens in a company with hundreds, or thousands, of orders?

With Every Angle you can solve the problemEvery Angle will alert you in time to the late delivery of the raw material. This allows you to contact another supplier of raw materials in time, so that there is no delay further down the supply chain. The outcome: a satisfi ed customer who is delivered on the agreed date.

In this list of overdue customer orders, you can easily see which orders will be delivered on time and which ones will not. The column ‘Delivery Reliability’ shows whether an order is on time, late or critical. Critical means the order threatens to be late, but could be delivered on time if action is taken. If the order is late or critical, the column ‘Bottleneck type’ shows which type of bottleneck caused the delay.

The strength of Every AngleThe strength of Every Angle rests on the following three pillars: IT compliance, functionality and usability.

Functionality• SAP customisation

• Process analysis• Supply chain analysis

• Stock analysis

Usability• Flexible

• Fast• User-friendly

• Open

IT compliance• SAP AG certifi ed

• Low TCO• Live within 2 days

• Robust and manageable• Advanced technology

Pillar 1: IT compliance

SAP AG certifi ed

• SAP NetWeaver certifi ed: standard solution in the SAP landscape complementary to the SAP suite. Installation and integration comply with the SAP guidelines;

• Reduction of SAP ERP custom solutions (prevention and maintenance);• Improvement of use, confi guration and added value of your implemented SAP software.

Low TCO/Live within 2 days

• Live within two days without the need for a complex confi guration;• Runs on a Windows server;• Total application management and user support is between 0.2 and 0.5 FTE

(Full-Time Equivalent).

Robust and manageable

• 100% standard package with optional modules;• Improvement of SAP performance and minimal SAP and network load;• Central user, verifi cation and confi guration management.

Advanced technology

• Extraction is fast, safe and fl exible;• Live Intelligent ObjectsTM technology for super-fast and fl exible analyses;• Intuitive user interface.

10

Pillar 2: Functionality

SAP customisation

• Fully automated redeployment of your specifi c SAP confi guration (organisation structure, process defi nitions and master data confi guration); with both the initial installation and with each modifi cation of the confi guration (for example an SAP roll-out);

• For all features, Every Angle shows the possible values and corresponding descriptions from your SAP ERP system (for example material type, purchase group, order type or planner).

Process analysis

• Every Angle analyses your specifi c business processes at individual order, position and material levels. Every Angle contains embedded knowledge of the SAP modules MM, SD, PP, PP-PI, PM, PS and QM;

• Every Angle adds useful properties to the fi elds downloaded from SAP ERP. For example execution status, delivery reliability and bottleneck type.

Supply chain analysis

• Every Angle provides an insight into the bottlenecks with their corresponding priorities and causes in the entire supply chain (across departments and branches);

• Every Angle calculates across all decoupling points1 of your entire organisation and calculates intelligent new fi elds (for example, output allocation % and calculated delivery date).

Stock analysis • At every planning level and for each material, Every Angle calculates whether you have a stock surplus or shortage, on the basis of the actual stock, planned requirements and historical use;

• Simple overview of imminent stock shortages and surpluses on the basis of the actual order portfolio, planning and forecast.

1 In the case of a stock decoupling point, there is no direct relationship between stocks, the planned acquisitions (procurement and production) and planned requirements (sales, bookings, forecast). Therefore, there is no relationship between your open purchase orders, open/planned production orders and open sales orders and forecast in the SAP ERP database.

Pillar 3: Usability

Flexible • There are hundreds of fi elds at your disposal for fi ltering and displaying your data. Here you can combine transaction data (for example, order features) with master data (for example, material and customer features);

• The Every Angle calculation results are available in all current and new angles for fi ltering and display just like all SAP fi elds.

Fast • Every Angle processes huge volumes of data at high speed; within a few seconds your entire order portfolio can be analysed and processed;

• No load on the SAP ERP system when executing angles;• New analyses can be performed online and the results are visible immediately.

User-friendly • After half a day of training, you will be able to execute all angles and use them in your daily work;

• Creating angles is supported with the user-friendly Angle Wizard;• In a four day training course, key users will learn how to create angles that match their

own specifi c SAP confi guration and business processes.

Open • Jump to SAP ERP with one click of the mouse;• Every Angle exports overviews directly to MS Excel;• With Every Angle, you can execute angles from an external application and then

automatically mail or print the data or save them in an external database.

11

Every Angle seamlessly fi ts into your SAP and IT landscape. This is illustrated in the fi gure above. As a standard add-on, Every Angle is directly linked with your ERP system and provides a quick insight into your operational data in a fl exible and user-friendly way. Every Angle has an operational and tactical focus.As a process analysis tool, Every Angle is also a very suitable instrument for SRM, SCM and CRM implementations where specifi c procurement, supply chain or customer processes are supported. Here the data from the ERP system is continuously synchronised with the data from the new SRM, SCM and CRM systems.

Every Angle within your IT landscape

Every Angle can be used in various phases of the SRM, SCM or CRM implementation:•   Before Go-Live: quick scan and data quality improvement;

Frequently asked questions

“We are already working with SAP BI (BW), do we still need Every Angle?”Yes, Every Angle and SAP BI complement each other beautifully. Whereas SAP BI is excellent at creating management reports on low-detail historical data, Every Angle’s great strength lies in creating highly-

“Technical installation in two days at the most? How is that possible?”The technical installation of Every Angle is nearly fully automated. Little configuration is needed,  just a few unavoidable technical settings related  to IP numbers, LAN etc. As soon as a connection is established between the Every Angle and SAP servers,

Who is Every Angle?Every Angle is an internationally operating software company with its headquarters in Gouda, the Netherlands. Every Angle was launched in 1996  with the development of an operational decision supporting IT system that is deployed as a standard add-on to an SAP ERP system.

VisionSAP is a powerful ERP system that forms the back-bone of the IT landscape and corporate processes of many organisations. The SAP ERP database is a mine of information. The data becomes useful information when it helps to get business processes under control. Only in this way can an organisation gain operational control.

Every Angle wants to support organisations in gaining operational control and achieves that goal  by developing and offering innovative software in combination with giving advice and support. This happens on the basis of a high level of knowledge  of business processes as well as SAP. With operational control, Every Angle hands its customers the tools  to achieve their business objectives more efficiently and more successfully. This enables them to create  a structural advantage in the market.

Company profileEvery Angle is a medium sized software company.  It is seen by its customers as a customer focused, flexible partner with a high level of knowledge of business processes and SAP.

The organisation comprises the following  three components:• Software Development   The Every Angle software is in continual development. Technological innovations are implemented and new functions are developed. At the centre is the continual optimisation of performance, functionality and user friendliness.

• Customer Support   The Every Angle consultants support the initial Every Angle use such as pilot implementations and training courses. They also support the operational Every Angle use (including projects and the Service Desk).

• Staff   The Staff play a supporting role within the organisation and consist of Management,  HR, IT and Marketing.

The proportions of these components within our organisation are illustrated in the figure below.

Implementation of Every AngleEvery Angle was implemented in 2007 and was initially used to improve data quality and reliability and quickly obtain difficult to access SAP data.  A very powerful additional gain was that the SAP users changed their sentiment and attitude towards SAP in a very short time for the better. They suddenly saw more clearly the benefit of the SAP system  and the way it helps Heineken to execute their daily processes in an efficient way.

It  became a powerful tool to help management and staff members to answer questions regarding overall stock levels (in order to reduce working capital), measure the conformance to schedule of departures of vessels from the Rotterdam Harbour and even determine the carbon footprint of HNS.

S&OP Dashboard and the Every Angle Dashboard EngineHeineken is one of the first companies in the world using the new Every Angle Dashboard Engine within the area of Sales & Operations Planning. The KPIs are presented on an easily accessible (internal) website  of HNS and consists of several stock overviews, service levels, lead times in the supply chain and measure-ments for forecast accuracy and bias. Usually, the interpretation and analysis of this kind of data is a well known, notoriously difficult exercise, but using the new Every Angle ETL toolset, this topic is solved with a minimum of effort. An overview of the most important KPIs of Heineken Netherlands is presented as a balanced score card. In a historic overview, Heineken’s management can quickly evaluate the progress on the KPIs, compare the performance with pre-set targets, and slice & dice the data using the powerful and intuitive drill down functionality  of the KPI Dashboard.

The data for this S&OP Dashboard is provided by  the EveryAngle Dashboard Engine mainly from SAP, but also from sources in Oracle, SQL and even Excel.

Heineken is one of the world’s greatest brewers of beers and ciders.

  Anton de Romijn, Strategic Supply Chain Analyst Heineken Netherlands:“The successful implementation of Every Angle has had many positive effects. Staff members now have a more accurate and up to date view of the achieved performance of HNS, which has motivated them to realize good scores. I also expect that the increased understanding of the relationship between the different KPIs will lead to a continuous optimization cycle.”

  Fred Holvast, Logistics Director  Heineken Netherlands:“Every Angle and the KPI Dashboard helps the management of the breweries to get a better grip on the overall performance of the supply chain, which will ultimately help Heineken Netherlands to service its domestic and international customers better against lower costs.”

The results gained by Heineken by implementing Every Angle are very positive. The pay back time of the overall investment was relatively short. The most important results are:• Improved data reliability in master data

and transaction data;• Improved user acceptance and better

use of the SAP system;• Stronger grip on the overall performance

of the supply chain;• Lower stocks;• Better, faster management information

and KPI measurement.

About VrumonaVrumona B.V. is a leading supplier of soft drinks in the Netherlands. The company was created in the middle of the previous century when thirty small  soft drinks manufacturers joined forces. Eventually, the name became Vrumona B.V., a contraction of VRUchtenliMONAde (FRUit leMONAde). In 1968,  the famous brewery Heineken N.V. bought up Vrumona completely.Vrumona has many own brands (Crystal Clear, Sisi, Royal Club, JOY, Climax, Sourcy Vitaminwater and Sourcy) and in addition to this, it has licence agreements with a number of world famous soft drink manufacturers (Pepsi, 7UP, Rivella and Gatorade).The organization is divided into the Supply and Commerce departments as well as a number of supporting departments such as Finance and IT. Supply covers the production, including the syrups hall, packaging lines and logistics. Commerce consists of the Out of Home & Export, Food and Marketing departments. Vrumona’s annual turnover is more

than 350 million Euro. The company employs some 400 people, of whom around 250 work in production.

Answers to management questionsThe issues that management wanted to look into using Every Angle were mainly to do with data reliability and stock management of raw materials, finished products, machine parts and spare parts.Moreover, the financial administration department felt the need for fast and flexible reporting & analysis functionality, such as searching for the logistical objects behind the entries in ledgers and an analysis of these per product, customer, supplier and packaging line.

Deployment of Every Angle at VrumonaFollowing a pilot project, Vrumona decided in the summer of 2006 to implement Every Angle permanently. Already during the pilot, Vrumona’s need to retrieve financial data from SAP in Every Angle  was discussed with Every Angle consultants and sub-sequently addressed. By now, all SAP users are working

with Every Angle as viewing users on a daily basis  and there are over 10 power users. Vrumona uses Every Angle for standard analyses and ad-hoc reports from the financial administration department.  Apart from that, Vrumona uses Every Angle to streamline the maintenance processes for the machinery, to manage master data and monitor  the stocks of technical parts. Vrumona also relies  on the software in the bottling plant’s planning to have a timely and better insight into the availability of packaging materials in the event of a change in production planning.

Examples• Determining the obsolete stock spare parts upon

dismantling of the installationWhen a column (bottling line) was removed, we needed to check which technical items were not used by other columns. If we had used the “where used” feature in SAP, this would have taken us a month. Vrumona used 3 angles to conclude within an hour that 754 parts were used in other machines as well and that 1,175 parts could be discarded.• Process improvement for advertising and

promotional itemsEvery Angle enabled Vrumona to improve greatly  the processes involving acquisition and (stock) management of advertising and promotional items. This resulted in a considerable stock reduction,  a better insight into order processes but also in article portfolio (unsalable articles, slow movers  and dead stocks).• Implementation TPM Label tool for machine

maintenanceIn TPM, there is a strong emphasis on an active role on the operators’ part in machine maintenance. Using labels (M1), operators in SAP now record which machine parts require maintenance or modification. Every Angle provides a quick overview of the status and processing of these labels by the technical staff among other people. Without Every Angle, these labels would still be scattered across several Excel spreadsheets and no-one would have thought of collecting them all in SAP.• Overview of suppliers’ performanceVrumona is working with Every Angle on a so-called “Suppliers Cockpit” to gain a quick understanding of the portfolio and the supply and payment patterns of suppliers. This information is used in the discussions with suppliers to arrive at clear agreements and to bring focus to attempts to improve performance.

  Ruud van der Burg, Maintenance Engineer at Vrumona:“A tool with which you can generate usable reports relatively easily and quickly. We save a lot of money and time in building reports, without first having to go through endless discussions about what should be included and what not.”

  Norbert Steenbrink, IT manager at Vrumona:“At long last, a project that is genuinely completed in time and within budget and sees very happy users to boot! That is a scene you seldom see in IT!”

Vrumona sells many famous soft drinks, such as  Crystal Clear, Sisi, Royal Club, Sourcy, Pepsi and 7UP.

Results

• Reduction of stocks for technical spare parts by 15% and advertising and promotional items by 25%;

• Determined the number of obsolete stock technical materials and returned these - under the terms of the agreements – to suppliers;

• Reduction of the number of errors in the logistical processes and the incoming and outgoing invoices, which results in a cost saving of a few hundreds of thousands per year;

• Improvement of the forecast of the use of packaging and raw materials, which leads to a better controlled and more predictable acquisition process, resulting in higher purchase discounts;

• Savings on the cost of hiring consultants (SAP/ABAP) amounting to approximately 50k per year;

• As a result of increased data reliability in SAP and transparency in the chain, there was an increase in user satisfaction about the SAP system and consequently a better utilization and actual use of it;

• Easier to generate reports per area of interest for the people on the workfloor;

• Faster updates of reports through one angle instead of various SAP lists and downloads.

About GazelleFrom its humble beginnings as a small two-man business 117 years ago, Koninklijke Gazelle has grown into a leading international enterprise. Gazelle started with a sale of three bicycles in 1892 and  has now become the biggest bicycle brand in the Netherlands, and currently produces 350,000  bicycles per year. It acquired Royal status, and saw  its 13 millionth Gazelle bicycle come out of production in 2008. Gazelle continues to make the safest, most comfortable, durable and beautiful bicycles.

Answers to management questionsThe production process for the Gazelle bicycles is fairly complex. To handle this complexity even better, Gazelle wanted to increase their insight into the internal processes. In everyday practice, there was  a need for extra operational control information.

The management at Gazelle wanted to answer  the following questions with Every Angle:•   How can we optimize SAP?•   How do we improve data integrity?•   How can we monitor our processes within Gazelle?

During the implementation kick-off for the first Every Angle training courses, these questions  were reworked into specific objectives such as:•   Closing all orders that are outstanding in 2009;•   Monitoring supplier delivery reliability;•   Determining guidelines for good master data.These guidelines and reports should provide  the Gazelle management with the opportunity  to answer these questions.

Implementation of Every AngleAfter a demonstration for IT manager John Smits, Gazelle received an invitation to attend the Every Angle customer day to see a bit more of the possibilities that Every Angle offers. On this day,  it was agreed immediately that Every Angle would  be installed at Gazelle so that the planned demo  a week later for a large audience would be a live demo, using SAP data from Gazelle.The technical installation of Every Angle software took less than a day. Once the installation had been completed, a test download was carried out to check whether the system was ready for a full download from a technical point of view. Subsequently, the  very first download could take place. Then a daily download was set up, so as to always have fresh  data available. A week later, the live demonstration happened. Gazelle’s own data on the system proved the added value: issues were recognized and made visible by Every Angle.Since January 2010, Gazelle has been using the Every Angle software company wide.

Examples• Optimizing master dataOne of Gazelle’s objectives concerns the optimization of the master data. For example, parts lists are very important in the production process of a bicycle. From the very beginning, Gazelle has deployed Every Angle for making reports on parts lists.  Gazelle kept Excel lists for monitoring the progress  of NPI (New Product Introduction) statuses. With Every Angle, it is possible to track bicycles as well as the component parts. In Every Angle, the data can easily be linked so you can see everything at a glance. So the Excel list made way for an Every Angle report. Moreover, with all the links available in Every Angle, you can now also see whether the systems flags up the need for certain parts that have not yet been released on account of the NPI. The angle created shows the stages that articles are at, together with the expected level of demand.

• Improved delivery reliability.As a follow-up to the angle used for tracking the needs in the system for new products, delivery reliability of the suppliers of these component parts is monitored. It is crucial for Gazelle to know whether the reserved parts are going to be delivered on time or that action must be taken to ensure that production can start on time.

  Tjalling de Vries, Supply Chain Manager at Gazelle:“Gazelle wanted to have a more accurate control, but previously quite often did not know how to get the right priorities and exception lists from SAP. With Every Angle we managed to do that.”

  Rolf Verspuij, CFO at Gazelle:“Every Angle is really very user-friendly. It is truly aimed at improving the operational execution by making data problems, under-performance and chain issues transparent in a simple way. And that is just what we need at Gazelle.”

Gazelle develops and produces the safest,  most comfortable, durable and beautiful bicycles.

Results

By using Every Angle, Gazelle has achieved the following results:• Every Angle fully live within 1 day;• Clean order portfolio;• Monitoring of the supplier delivery reliability;• Flexible insight into operational bottlenecks;• Improvement of knowledge levels of process

and SAP configuration;• Structured approach to process optimization.

About Stork Food SystemsStork Food Systems develops, produces and maintains industrial systems and installations for processing poultry, (red) meat and (liquid) foods. Stork PMT (Poultry processing Machinery and Technology)  in Boxmeer is a subsidiary of Stork Food Systems.  In Boxmeer they produce poultry slaughter lines, among other things. These are complex, customer specific products that require a solid foundation  and a network of suppliers. The delivery reliability  of these suppliers needed to be boosted as Stork Food Systems was in danger of having its growth curtailed.

For quite some years now the Boxmeer branch has been using SAP’s ERP system for their goods flow control. They intend to roll out this system to four

other branches, with support from the Every Angle system. The logistic core of the production of these complex compounded products such as the Stork PMT machines lies in the final assembly and control of suppliers. For this Every Angle proved to be a powerful tool.

Answers to management questionsQuestions the management sought to answer, amongst others, were:•   What parts are missing from the production  at this moment and also most probably in the short term?

•   What is the status of the show-stoppers in the supply chain and where do we need to intervene?

•   Which suppliers are responsible for most  show-stoppers?

Customer case Stork Food Systems“Increase of production efficiency with 20% due to strong increase in delivery reliability of suppliers”

2222

•   To what extent are we the cause of our supplier’s unsatisfactory supply performance due to our erratic orders and overloading?

•   How can we increase our planning time span  to enable us to provide our most important suppliers with a more regular ordering pattern and thus prevent them from getting swamped temporarily?

•   How reliable is the master data (of materials, customers, suppliers, prices, parts lists, information records etc.) in our SAP system  and how can we increase the reliability?

•   Is the follow-up to the process and order flow sufficiently and accurately updated in the SAP system so that we can take full advantage of  the added value the system offers?

Implementation of Every AngleSince the summer of 2008 Stork Food Systems has used the Every Angle system to address the above questions and exert more control over the supply and planning of parts for assembly. It was decided to go for a company-wide contract, whereby 15 power users make angles for a large number of regular users.  The system landscape consists of three Every Angle servers: one for production, one for development  and QA and one to support the roll out of SAP.

Every Angle has been implemented for the improvement of data reliability in the SAP system, the management of suppliers and detection and analysis of bottlenecks in the goods flow.

Examples• Overviews of the expected load for suppliersThis is not only caused by the build-up of purchase orders, but also by order requests and plan orders, combined with master data concerning the procurement method. This means Every Angle can provide an overview over a more prolonged period  to facilitate a timely response.• Assessment of the suppliers’ service levelsIn specific cases it is necessary to take into account the longer transport times for items that are ordered

in low-wage countries. Often a supplier cannot be held responsible for delays in the transport overseas.• Prioritising in the event of

problems with suppliersIf capacity bottlenecks force a supplier to choose between different orders, it is important to make  a quick decision about which components have the highest priority. It is necessary to take into account the current stock situation and the assembly schedule.• Finding inconsistencies, gaps or errors in

the master dataExamples could be terms of delivery, delivery times, material groups and statuses.• Analysing the stock surpluses and shortages.

  Frans Faber, Supply Chain Manager:“Every Angle is an important enabler of logistic improvements. Every Angle has provided us with a far better overview of the loading of the production and components, which has enabled us to plan more efficiently. This has resulted in a huge efficiency improvement for Stork Food Systems.”

  Roy Coenders, Competence Center SAP:“Simple ad-hoc reports are created directly by the end users with the help of Every Angle. This saves the SAP Competence Center a lot of work creating customised reports and downloads from SAP.”

Stork Food Systems develops, produces and maintains industrial systems and installations  for processing poultry, (red) meat and (liquid) foods.

Results

In a six month period, Stork Food Systems managed to greatly improve the delivery reliability of suppliers. This has had a tremendous impact on the production efficiency of the plant, which has increased by a total of 20%.

About CRH-IPBCRH Infrastructural Products Benelux (CRH-IPB) is  an umbrella organisation of ten companies in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. These companies are Hofman, Marlux, Olivier, Remacle, Rhebau, Stradus, Struyk Verwo Aqua, Struyk Verwo Infra, Wemink and Zoontjens. The companies manufacture infrastructural, mostly concrete building materials necessary for building in urban environments. Its  core activities consist of public and private (garden) paving and waste water and drainage systems.

Currently, approximately 1,550 people work at  CRH-IPB in ten companies at 31 product locations.

CRH-IPB is part of the listed Irish company CRH plc. This organisation operates worldwide, manufacturing and trading in building supplies.

CRH-IPB uses SAP for its logistic and financial administration, which includes a fair amount of ABAP customisation. In 2004 a huge SAP re-implementation took place at Struyk Verwo, and all branches were provided with a new SAP system. By doing this Struyk Verwo achieved its aim of making the system simple, transparent and accessible. Later two other companies followed the CRH-IPB group, i.e. Stradus and Marlux.

While the reimplementation definitely improved  the SAP system, in practice there were still many operational questions that remained unanswered. Every Angle was able to answer these operational questions for CRH-IPB.

Answers to management questionsManagement in the CRH-IPB companies was in search of an answer to the following operational questions:•  How to prevent overproduction?•  Can the stock level be controlled?•  How do we keep up with the order portfolio?•  How can we further optimise our planning?•   In which areas can we still improve our stock revenue?

Implementation of Every AngleSince July 2007 CRH-IPB has been using Every Angle software. From this moment on an increasing group of SAP key users has been using the software intensively.Struyk Verwo Infra was the first to be introduced to Every Angle, followed by the companies Marlux, Stradus, Hofman, Zoontjens and Struyk Verwo Aqua. The companies each use Every Angle from their own unique perspective.

Examples of how Every Angle is used• To increase data reliabilityDuring the first users phase of Every Angle attention at the CRH-IPB companies of Struyk Verwo Infra, Struyk Verwo Aqua and Zoontjens was first focused on cleaning the SAP database. Sales, purchasing and production orders that were incorrectly recorded as still outstanding in SAP and were affecting the planning, were quickly identified with the help of Every Angle, so that these could then be quickly closed in SAP.• Stock optimisationEvery Angle is able to quickly chart which part of the stock is important and which part of the stock is unnecessary. These follow-up actions will ultimately result in structurally lower stock and ensure that the actual stock is better managed.• Follow-up procedures (clean desk policy)Marlux uses Every Angle for their clean desk policy, which has the aim to achieve a clean desk at the end

  Han van Manen, Stock Manager at Struyk Verwo:“Every Angle really is very fast. It can also convert important control information to Excel. For users at Struyk Verwo, Every Angle is an ideal support tool for process change. As far as stock management is concerned, we are now well under way.”

Bart Donné, strategic purchaser at Stradus:“I use Every Angle for my daily activities at work. Every Angle improves the way I can inform operational purchasers and they can provide me with a better overview of the current situation. Furthermore I use the software for my monthly reports to management. In my experience Every Angle is very fast and flexible. For me it is the perfect tool to encourage suppliers to deliver on time, among other things, thereby preventing production from coming to a standstill.”

CRH Infrastructural Products Benelux (CRH-IPB) manufactures infrastructural,  mostly concrete building materials necessary for building in urban environments.

of each working day. Every Angle allows employees to gain a quick insight in any activities that still need to be carried out. • Monitoring the entire order processZoontjens uses Every Angle to monitor the entire order process from start to finish. Frequently used analyses are overviews of sales orders that have been delivered but have not yet been invoiced and overviews of purchase orders that have been delayed.

By using Every Angle, CRH-IPB has managed to achieve the following results:• Cleaner master data;• Quicker action on the basis of faster

and more transparent reports;• Early warning of overproduction;• Decrease of stock surplus;• Improved reliability of delivery.

Answers to management questionsPerfetti Van Melle Benelux management particularly sought answers to the following:•   Which orders are open? Will they be delivered on time? If not, why not?

•   What’s the status of our stocks, have we enough – or rather too much? If we have too much, how can we stop it getting worse? Can we cancel purchase or manufacturing orders?

Deployment of Every Angle at Perfetti Van MelleFrom 1993 Perfetti Van Melle used SAP for its logistical and financial administration. Since then SAP has been deployed in a large number of countries. The SAP environment consists of 10 production SAP systems, each for a specific region or operating company.

Since 2003, Perfetti Van Melle has used Every Angle software for its Benelux operation. From the moment Every Angle was installed, the software has been  used intensively, especially by key SAP users in the operational business processes.

At the end of 2007, Perfetti Van Melle decided to convert the existing Benelux contract to a company-wide global contract. This enables the worldwide use of Every Angle software. The first foreign site that employed this is Perfetti Van Melle USA.

Examples•   Reporting on service levels;•   Uncovering and cleaning of corruption and inconsistencies in master and transaction data;

•   Monitoring supplier lists and information  records for completeness and accuracy;

•   Uncovering backlogs and imminent backlogs  per customer based on open order lists;

•   Analysing stocks for both finished product and packaging materials with regard to unsalables, slow-movers, best-before-date lists, number  of weeks in stock and blocked stocks;

•   Inventorying of production differences between planned and produced.

Perfetti Van Melle supplies many well-known and popular sweet-brands such as  Mentos, Frisk, Chupa Chups and Smint.

Jan-Willem van der Meere, Regional IT Manager region of Northwest Europe and North America:“For us, Every Angle has proved a powerful tool to get a better insight into our processes and particularly into how those processes interrelate. Of course, a lot of data can be collected using R/3 reports, whether they are standard or programmed by yourself, just as you can when using BI. However, those data don’t always immediately give you the right information that you need to control and optimise processes.We also use Every Angle as a user-friendly ad hoc tool, especially for viewing master data where the Excel link is useful.All in all, our users couldn’t do without Every Angle any more – it’s a useful addition to SAP R/3.From an IT perspective, I can only say that Every Angle requires hardly any maintenance.”

By using Every Angle, Perfetti Van Melle Benelux managed to achieve the following results:• Cleaner master data;• Quicker action on the basis of faster and

more transparent reports;• Quicker flagging-up of potential unsalables

(best-before-date and packaging materials without dependent need);

• Improved reporting on sales orders status;• Improved insight into purchasing packages

and supplier spread.

Since the implementation in 2007, ASPA has been using the Every Angle software. The work method at ASPA is characterised by dedicated procurement for client order specific manufacturing, for which the product configurator is used intensively. That makes the logistical processes special, but also complex.

Customer case ASPA“Significant contribution to a tighter process management”

2828

Answers to management questionsThe management wanted answers to the following questions:•   Where are the chain’s bottlenecks?•   Are all direct (3rd party) deliveries on schedule, what discrepancies are there?

•   Are all planned customer deliveries ready for the coming three weeks? If not, why not – and how can we resolve it?

•   What changes to customer orders and deliveries occurred, and what are their effects?

•   Where are the loopholes in our master data management?

•   What purchasing rules must we re-assess to ensure the quality of our services?

•   What is the fi nancial value of the outstanding purchase orders? How much of that is not needed, so could have been postponed?

•   What caused the excess stock level build-up and how can we reduce it?

Deployment of Every Angle at ASPAEvery Angle was fi rst used in the fi rst half of 2007. In February 2007, a pilot project was started, with ten key users. A company-wide contract was signed in the summer of 2007. An enthusiastic user group now uses the system daily to optimise operational control of the supply chain and monitor master data quality.

Examples• Monitoring of data qualityMaster data quality is key, especially in the planning process. Every Angle overviews now make monitoring of this faster and easier than before. Discrepancies in current procedures can be quickly found and corrected, continually maintaining high SAP data quality.• Purchasing process improvementEvery Angle is deployed in several areas of purchasing, e.g. supplier reliability measurements, overdue orders monitoring by purchase group and process management of direct deliveries (suppliers delivering directly to customers).• Sales process improvementIn general, Every Angle offers analyses at the operational level of where agreements are being

met, or broken. ASPA uses Every Angle for order monitoring, advanced sales analyses, and to set, record and measure operational performance indicators.• Production process improvementIn planning and production Every Angle is widely used. A few examples are parts lists and routing controls, planning data monitoring for each workplace and monitoring availability checks of saleable articles in critical areas.

Aukje Santegoets, Business Controller at ASPA:“Every Angle delivers a signifi cant contribution to our process control. Especially in the area of management of the entire logistic chain, or put differently, the process ‘from sand to customer’. This provides us with a more sophisticated way of assessing our customer performance and what points still need improvement. Every Angle is able to provide a fast and transparent view of a large number of details and KPIs which can then be adjusted to the information requirements that arise from the day-to-day company management.”

ASPA develops and manufactures high-quality offi ce furniture and equipment.

By basing the daily management and a number of improvement paths on Every Angle the following results were achieved:• Improvement in managing the entire logistic chain;• Increase in customer service level;• Tighter supplier control through better prioritising;• Improved control of working capital;• Improvement in process control, for example by

tangibly assessing the agreements made using KPIs;• Increased fl exibility in setting up and producing

reports on both structural and ad-hoc management information.

Customer case ERIKS Aandrijftechniek“A much better grip on supply chains and stocks”

3030

Manuela Paradiek, Controller:“Thanks to Every Angle’s deployment as a SAP operations management add-on, we’ve had far more control over the supply chain and stock levels.”

Answers to management questionsQuestions the management sought to answer, amongst others, were:•   What are the most important current  supply chain bottlenecks?

•   Which factors pose the biggest threats  to our customer service level?

•   Who are the underperforming suppliers?•   Which articles turn over too slowly to remain  part of our standard range?

•   Which products need to have their SAP control parameters – such as series size and safety  stock levels – adjusted?

•   What caused excess stock level build-ups?

Deployment of Every Angle at ERIKS AandrijftechniekERIKS Aandrijftechniek bv has been using Every Angle software since the summer of 2004 to improve operational process control. Every day the software downloads data from SAP, creating for each user group (purchasing, stock management, production and sales) a number of analyses showing the current supply chain situation.

Examples• Overview of current and future customer

delivery bottlenecks Every Angle generates an overview of current and future customer delivery bottlenecks and gives  the cause of each bottleneck. A few examples of bottlenecks are: supply or production delay, timing problems in planning and work-flow delays.  This overview enables users to distinguish quickly between main causes and contributory ones and  to take targeted action early on.• Overview of unnecessary procurementEvery Angle creates an overview of unnecessary procurement, including costs, resulting from excessive purchasing or production. This enables users to take targeted action for production or purchase orders and ATBs that may produce future excess stocks.

Customer case ERIKS Aandrijftechniek

• Overview of service levelsEvery Angle gives an overview of supplier service levels and their impact on customer service levels.• Overview of overdue purchase orders Every Angle generates an overview of overdue purchase orders and their impact on customer deliveries. ERIKS Aandrijftechniek has 72,000 purchasing positions annually. This includes tens  of overdue orders every week. Only a few, however, directly impact customer deliveries. Every Angle offers the ability to single out these orders quickly and then take targeted action.

ERIKS Aandrijftechniek is an international company specialised in engineering  and producing hydraulic and mechanised drives.

Every Angle lets the employees and managers at ERIKS Aandrijftechniek act earlier and in a more targeted way on current and future supply chain bottlenecks. The outcome is a 12% service level improvement and 7.9% stock level reduction.
