Involved’.!We!hope!you!have!found!it!useful!and!it!has!encouraged!

you! to! join! some! of! the! amazing! societies! within! our! medical!

school.!

Medical(Education(Society(0(MedEd(This!term!is!MedEd’s!busiest!and!we!are!trying!our!hardest!to!make! it! the!best! for!all!of!you!

We!will!be!running!revision!sessions!for!first!and!second!years!for!both!the!written!exams!and!

the! communication!OSCE! stations.!We!are! currently! changing! our! presentations! and!making!

sure!all!of!our! teachers!are!prepared.!Keep!checking!our! facebook!page! for! the!dates!of! the!

sessions!most!relevant!for!you!so!that!you!can!sign!up.!!

Third!years,!we!will!be!pairing!up!with! the! newly! formed!Cardiovascular! society! to!help!you!

with!some!OSCE!revision!sessions,!ECG!interpretation!and!many!more!skills.!!

Fifth!years,!don’t!think!we’ve!forgotten!about!you!!A!whole!revision!weekend!has!been!set!up!

for!you,!run!by!F1s,!who!are!Newcastle!graduates,!and!are!on!hand!to!help!you!pass!your!finals!

with!flying!colours.!!

However,!we! are! not! all! about! revision.!We!will! be! holding! our! AGM! during! this! term! so! if!

Newcastle(Paediatrics(Society(This!academic!year!has!been!one!of!success!for!Newcastle!Paediatrics!Society.!Our!SSC!

and!Electives!evening!was!attended!by!over!60!third!year!students,!quite!a!few!of!which!

have!gone!on!to!secure!SSCs!at!prestigious!centres!such!as!Great!Ormond!Street!and!

Alder!Hey.!Our!second!annual!Northern!Undergraduate!Paediatrics!Conference!was!again!extremely!popular,!attracting!students!from!medical!schools!around!the!country!

and!receiving!positive!feedback!from!all!delegates.!We’ve!also!been!fortunate!enough!to!

raise!over!£400!for!children’s!charities,!both!national!and!local.!

We’re!ending!our!year!with!one!final!event!–!the!Careers!in!Paediatrics!evening!will!take!place!on!30thApril!at!7pm!in!the!medical!school.!We!will!have!speakers!from!various!

paediatric!subcspecialities!to!talk!to!you!about!how!a!career!in!paediatrics!progresses!and!

what!a!job!in!paediatrics!entails.!

A 12-hour CPR marathon!

Members!will!be!getting!together!in!front!of!the!!

student!union!from!10amc10pm!to!do!CPR!!

continuously!for!12!hours.!There!will!also!be!a!!

station!for!people!to!learn!CPR!and!get!involved.!!

Participants!will!be!looking!for!sponsors!and!we!!
