•Testing will begin promptly at 7 p.m.•All candidates must bring their testing confirmation ticket and identification
in order to be allowed into the testing site.•The civil service exam is a Nelson Denny Reading Comprehension and
Vocabulary Test. The vocabulary test consists of 80 multiple choicequestions. The reading comprehension test includes five short readingpassages each followed by a set of questions asking test-takers to identifycorrect, factual content from the passage as well as draw inference.
•The written test will take approximately one hour.•Once the written test is completed, applicants will be provided with
directions and more information about the Physical Assessment test.
The physical assessment test will take place the following morning on Jan. 11th at 8 a.m. and will consist of the following: •25 push-ups (using proper form)
•300 meter sprint (71 seconds or less)
•Agility run (17.8 seconds or less)
•Vertical jump (minimum of 15.5 inches high)
•1.5 mile run (15.54 minutes or less)

The Hiring ProcessAll applicants must successfully pass each of the following steps in order to be considered for employment with the League City Police Department. The process is thorough and will take between 80-180 days.
Meet all eligibility requirements
Pass written portion of civil service exam
Pass physical assessment test
Complete and turn in personal history packet
Pass oral review board
Pass comprehensive background investigation
Certified applicants enter the field training program.
Non-certified applicants are sent to a local police academy. The academy will be chosen and paid for by the department. The cadet will be paid while going through the academy. Upon completion of the academy, cadets will enter the field training program.

Pass psychological test and evaluation
