Backwashing your pools filter before necessary can cause water clarityproblems. Pools with Sand Filters should only be backwashed when thepressure rises to the manufacturers recommended level for backwashing,which is normally 8 to 10 psi (pounds per square inch) on the filters pressuregauge above the normal operating level. If you backwash more frequently youare washing away the filters ability to pick up fine particles.

Should I use my AutoCover as myWinterCover?

This is a question we often hear fromcustomers and although some dealersand manufacturers do not warnagainst it, we do. This is a picture ofwhat we see happen all too often toautocovers during the winter in ourarea. Yes, they're easy to use, but youhave to make sure your cover pump isworking or you will have cover tensionfailure. If the cover pump can notkeep up with Mother Natures additionof rain & snow you will have increasedtension on the cover which can resultin tension failure. If your pump getsclogged with debris it will preventproper drainage and again result incover tension failure. Your coverpump can also freeze and that would prevent it from draining the cover,resulting in cover tension failure. You have a lot invested in your auto cover,we recommend you not take the risk of winter usage in our climate.

Whitworth UniversityWhitworth has one of the nicestIndoor Aquatics Center in theregion. It's the home of theircollegiate Swim Team theWhitworth Pirates. The AquaticsCenter and pool was built in the1980's. Over the past eightmonths Pool World has made anumber of updates to the pooland installed several pieces ofnew equipment, including a newstate of the art Neptune Benson Filter system. Thissystem will benefit the environment because it will use444,000 less gallons per year than the old filter. Wealso installed a new Strantrol chemical control systemon the pool.

Oz Fitness SouthPool World has installed a new Lap pool and Co-edHydrotherapy spa in the newly remodeled Oz FitnessSouth. The project was done in conjuction withVandervert Construction of Spokane. Southhillresidents should enjoy the many improvements OzFitness has made to the facility.

Cheney Grove ApartmentsWe're building a new Swimming pool for Cheney GroveApartments being constructed by Campus Crest Con-struction. The complex is scheduled to open this falland should be a nice addition to Cheney.

Waterford Place - RichlandPool World has been constructing a new Lap Pool and2 Hydrotherapy Spas on the second story of thiscondominium building which overlooks the beautifulColumbia River. This project is located in Richlandand is being built in conjunction with VandervertConstruction of Spokane.

Black Rock Kootenai CabinWe recentlycompleted alarge CommercialPool and Spa forthe exclusiveBlack RockDevelopment onCoeur d' Alenelake. Thisproject was builtin conjunctionwith Polin and

City of Spokane ValleyThe City of Spokane Valley is getting 3 new upgrades totheir 3 Municipal Swimming Pools. Work has alreadybegun on the Park Road Pool, where we have been workingin conjunction with Kilgore Construction of Spokane toinstall a new Slide. A new Lazy River will be added to theTerrace View Pool and will be ready for use the start ofthe 2009 season. The Valley Mission Pool will be getting anew Zero Depth Entry Pool and it will also be ready foruse in June of 2009.

We're proud to have been chosen to build these poolswith the City of Spokane Valley and Kilgore Construction.They will be a wonderful addition for the community.

Prepare your Pool for the Winter

Winterizing your pool properly is the most important thing you can do tomake opening your pool in the spring as easy as possible.

#1 To protect your pool surface & equipment be sure to have your poolwater tested and balance the water according to the recommendedwinter instructions.

#2 Lower water level below returns. Unless your pool can circulate withthe water level below the skimmer, do not lower the level if temperaturesare below freezing until the morning of the closure.

#3 Brush & vacuum pool. Clean the waterline with BioGuard Off the Wall.

#4 Chemically clean the filter using Strip Kwik or Filter Cleanse.

#5 Add Artic Blue Shock and Artic Blue Algae Protector.

#6 Run filter for 24 to 48 hours.

#7 Winterize equipment according to manufacturers directions. Evacuatelines and cover pool.
