DISTRICT PROFILE
Flour Blu� Independent School district is comprised of 6 schools located in Corpus Christi Texas and serves 5,600 students. The student population is comprised of varied socio-economic backgrounds, therefore presenting multiple instructional needs.
PROBLEM
Anticipating the need to prepare underperforming students for the more rigorous STAAR assessment in 2012, Flour Blu� ISD sought to implement an e� ective and motivational math intervention program.
SOLUTION
1500 students across Grades 5-12 were identifi ed for remediation and assigned Think Through Math. Targeting the most essential skills and helping students learn how to think and solve problems, Think Through Math is both fun and e� ective. The program is also used for afterschool tutoring and homework. Students enrolled in the Think Through Math program saw dramatic increases in the 2011 TAKS across all grade levels.

Like many districts across Texas, Flour Blu� Independent School District is focused on getting ready for STAAR, the highly-anticipated rigorous 2012 assessment. One of their most e� ective tools is Think Through Math. At the end of the 2011 school year, 59% had improved performance on TAKS, thanks in part to Think Through’s unique blend of rigorous content and unprecedented motivation.

PREDICTORS OF SUCCESSEFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION
Students who improved their scores solved over twice as many problems in Think Through Math and completed over double the number of lessons. These students applied that knowledge in the Practice Zone, achieving a 79.5% Positive Response Rate.
