First few classes – What were some of your concerns as a PL and what do you think were some of their concerns as a student?
Making a student feel comfortable and important in the classroom
It’s all about the little things – EX. remembering their names

Silences are ok, so be comfortable with them
Be consistent throughout the semester when it comes to your expectations of their involvement

Your role as a PL is not only in the classroom• Maybe that extra individual contact and
accountability with the student will boost their confidence in the classroom
• External factors causing their absence in participation and class involvement

It’s the middle of the semester and there are two students that are still not engaging in class activities. How would you handle this?

Those few students that stay uninterested and uninvolved in the class• It is vital that you still give the class some
importance to them, how do you do this?• Build those individual bonds with them and
