The Haunting (1963) is an excellent example of 1960’s

ghost stories.

The characters do not believe that they are being

affected by supernatural forces until it is too late due to

scepticism which is a common theme in supernatural

horror movies.

Ghosts‘13 Ghosts’ is a 1960’s horror movie based around ghostly activities. The audience had to wear glasses in order to get the full affect of the film, and they apparently allowed you to see the ghosts coming at you. The film is based around the classic idea of a haunted house which people go and investigate. There is a hidden fortune linking to the spirits that haunt the house. By looking at the Youtube link, you can tell that it will be of a low and less convincing quality than films we watch today.

The classic example of a zombie movie from the 1960’s is George A. Romero’s ‘Night of the Living Dead’ (1968)

Although this wasn’t the first zombie movie ever made,

it is the movie that popularized the zombie genre

and has inspired countless other movies.

‘The Plague of the Zombies’ (1966) is a film notable for its seminal imagery, which influenced many films in the zombie genre, and it’s themes of colonialism, exploitation and tyranny. The film is about a Cornish village during the 1800’s and people are dying of a mysterious plague.

‘Rosemary’s Baby’ (1968) is a film about a women who believes that her neighbours want to make her new born baby a sacrifice. This was a very popular film which received 4 stars. This was also a strong influence on the movies of today.
