Gi-fi
Gigabit wireless technology is the world’s first transceiver integrated on a single chip that operates at 60GHz on
the CMOS process.
Features of gi-fi
• ten times faster than Wi-Fi
• it’s chip delivers short-range multi-gigabit data transfer in an indoor environment
• 5 gigabits per second, low power consumption, usually within a range of 10 meters .
History of gi-fi
• It was first introduced by Melbourne University researchers have achieved up to 5Gbps data transfer rates on a wireless chip.
• The world's first Gi-Fi wireless network chip developed at Australia's peak federal technology incubator has entered its commercialization phase.
Gi-fi chips
• Span 0f 10 meters
• Easy video sharing
• Multi gigabit data transfer in an indoor environment
• 5 gbps
• 5*5mm
• Placed in various devices
• 2watts of power with an antenna
• Manufacturing cost:$10
Evolution of networks
Gi-fi access devices
• Cellular phones
• Computers
• Printers
• Headsets
• Fax machines etc.,
Advantages of gi-fi
• Transmits at a very high frequency of 60GHz
• Mixing and filtering keeps the signal strong
• Profitable chip
• Small in size
• Low power consumption
• Highly secured
