What is a tube amp?The tube amp is a device that uses electrons and pressure, instead of transferring sound through wires, to create a signal to send sound to speakers. Its used for radios, guitars, microphones, and base guitars.

The tube amp is used because of its maple sound and its low baritone.

The tube amp was invented in1904 by a British scientist named Lee De Forest. Nobody was able to improve

on the amp

The tube in the tube amp is called a pentode it has three major parts. The cathode, grid, and the plate.

This piece of equipment is the receiver for a tube amp, it is used to transfer the sound to the

speaker. It uses electrons to transfer sound through a vacuum, to be caught by three

suppresser grids.

It was used in world war 2 as a radio receiver.

The Pentode

The Tetrode does the exact same thing as the pentode except it has

one less grid which makes it weaker.

The pentode receives electrons from the cathode and sends the electrons with the sound to the speaker. The purpose of the tube amp is to amplify sound.

The Cathode generates many electrons that are transferred to the graphite slide. The graphite slide is used, because it is able to absorb a high quantity of electrons. After the graphite slide, the electrons channel through the first, second, and third grid which creates the sound.

The cathode has heater so it can emit electrons so it has to be coated

with aluminum oxide so it doesn’t burn up in the intense heat.

The grids are made out of graphite, to withstand the high heat.

•Containing all the heat is a plate that is made of graphite or steel but it is usually made of steel because

the graphite absorbs so many electrons it over heats and fails.
