Use scissors to cut along the outline of the petal.

Create a big collage on bristol board using pictures from magazines, photographs, newspaper clippings…or anything you want. Once you know where you want each image to go, go ahead and glue it on. There’s no right or wrong way to make a collage.1

3Once the glue dries, use a marker to draw a large petal on the collage

Make about four or five more petals. Use the first petal cutout as a tracing guide so all the petals look the same.

Place all of your petals with the collage side facing down.

Take a strip of colourful duct tape and tape it across the bottom of the petals.

Use a cardboard tube to help roll the flower up. Make sure that the white sides of the petals are facing outwards.

Once the petals are rolled around the tube, tape the bottom of the flower.

Slide the tube out and fold the petals down. These will be the outside petals of your flower.

To make the inside petals, trace your hand on the remaining collage and cut it out. You can make as many as you want.

Roll the hand cutout with the collage side facing in, and tape the bottom part to hold it in place.

Place the hand petals into the centre of the giant flower.

Put your flower on a piece of driftwood or anything else that will make an interesting base.

Fold the fingers out. If you have made extra hand cutouts, now is the time to stack them.
