gifts & fruits of the spirit……do you have...
TRANSCRIPT
A PLACE TO CALL HOME February 3, 2019
I pray that the peace & mercy from our Father God, King Jesus & the Holy Spirit flows into each of your lives.
When I talk about gifts & fruits of the Spirit, I am not talking about presents we buy nor am I talking about eating
strawberries, bananas, apples, oranges, etc…. Now that I have you hungry you can always go out & buy someone a gift of
a gallon of vanilla ice cream & chocolate & top it off with the strawberries & bananas. And there you have a Sundae!!!
Then you can eat it on a Sunday - tada! No, none of this is what I’m talking about. It may take care of your appetite, but it
won’t help your soul!
The Holy Spirit has the power to give the spiritual gifts. It is strictly up to Him to determine what & how many to give
you in your life. These gifts are to help each other in our faith & growth spiritually. 1 Cor 12: 4-11 - Now there are
varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit & there are varieties of ministries & the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but
the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common
good. For to one is given the word of wisdom…to another the word of knowledge….to another faith …. To another gifts
of healing….to another the effecting of miracles….to another prophecy….to another the distinguishing of spirits, to
another kinds of tongues & to another the interpretation of tongues. But one & the same Spirit works all these things
distributing to each one individually just as He wills.
Only you know if you have one or more of these gifts & they can be given at any time.
Word of Wisdom: The wisdom comes from God by from reading, understanding & putting into practice His word.
Anyone who earnestly asks can have this gift. James 1:5-6 – But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, Who gives
to all generously & without reproach, & it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one
who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven & tossed by the wind.
Word of knowledge: when you are knowledgeable of God’s word & put it into practice, then you can teach others.
Faith: This is confidence, certainty, trust & assurance in faith which comes with a close relationship with Christ.
Healing: This means to cure physical or mental illness & by removal of demons as Jesus did.
Miracles: This means a miraculous power or force, a wonderful work. Miracles all come from God, there is no
other explanation & they all glorify God the Father.
Prophesy: This is a message from divine inspiration & being able to declare the purposes of God.
Distinguishing of spirits: This is the discerning or the ability to know what a person’s spirit or intention is.
Tongues: This usage is defined as a language that is not naturally acquired. This is generally understood to be a
spiritual language.
Interpretation of tongues: This is given to one to understand what is being said in tongues & then the ability to
share the message with others to edify them. Paul is adamant about it edifying the church by interpretation. He told the
Corinthians that he would rather have them speak prophesy as they would all be edified since they could all understand.
1 Cor. 14:5. This does not diminish the speaking in tongues if there is an interpreter so to edify the church.
The fruit of the Spirit can be said to depict Jesus attributes. We should emulate these beautiful truths daily.
Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
self-control; against such things there is no law.
Thank you, Holy Spirit for putting this lesson on my heart to share with the WSCC church family. We praise You God & glorify Your name always!

GIFTS & FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT……DO YOU HAVE THEM?
MIGHTY, HUMBLE & LOVING
I was brushing down my horse, Lilbit, recently & was in wonder
of this magnificent creation of God. She is tall & strong. I saw
the beauty in the soft rust-red colors of hair that covered the
muscles which rippled beneath her skin when she moved. I
looked into her soft, intelligent eyes that took in everything
around her. Her mane & tail billowed in the wind as if raising
up to praise God, her Creator.
Lilbit is a mighty horse in her own right, yet because I have
developed a relationship with her, she is humble & loving
towards me, a mere human. Isn’t that a little like the Christ we
have come to know?
He is the mighty God in Heaven who created everything. It is
written in Col 1:16 – For in Him all things were created: things
in heaven & on earth, visible & invisible, whether thrones or
powers of rulers or authorities; all things have been created
through Him & for Him.
Yet, Christ became incarnate by embodying Himself in flesh,
taking on a human form. Christ was sent by His Father as
written in John 3: 17 – For God did not send His Son into the
world to condemn the world, but to save the world through
Him. The world is us: humanity. He loved us (the world) so
much that He died for us upon a cross.
Jesus willingly gave up His Mighty Godship in Heaven &
chose to be born a humble human on earth to save the world.
(Phil 2:8) He is our High Priest in Heaven because He
understands our temptations. Heb 4:15 – For we do not have a
high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but
One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without
sin.
Jesus had a humble & loving relationship with men &
women. Jesus was poor in earthly measure, but He was rich
spiritually. During His earthly life He was: humble, loving,
meek, serving, He taught, was wise, was kind, He healed &
drove out demons, faced temptation & remained sinless, He
preached, fed thousands on 2 fish & 5 loaves, He prophesized,
He wept, He always prayed to His Father, He forgave even
when He was on the cross. We could go on & on & on……
Because we are human & we are with ourselves constantly
we become the priority within our mighty minds. How we
choose to live determines who we really are. If we have a true
relationship with God, then being humble & loving becomes a
priority. Humility is living without pride or arrogance; living a
life that emulates Christ. He humbly followed God’s plan for
His life. It is written in 1 Peter 5:6 – Humble yourselves,
therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper
time He may exalt you.
We can be mighty as spiritual warriors for Christ. We
can stand strong on God’s word. We can be mighty
warriors against the evil schemes of the devil by putting
on God’s armor described in Eph 6:10-17. The Word of
God (Bible) is our Sword & the Shield of Faith will enable
us to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. This
is the mightiness we strive to have. We should not be
overbearing & proud as some in this world are.
To become humble is all encompassing. It relates to us
individually & also relates to us as a people. It would be
well for the people of the United States today to heed
what the prophet Ezra said pleading with the people to
come back to God in his day in 2 Chro 7:14 – If my people
who are called by my name humble themselves & pray &
seek My face & turn from their wicked ways, then I will
hear from Heaven & will forgive their sin & heal their land.
Since Christ is the same eternally this is still a great
warning & advice for us today. It is written Hebrews 13:8
– Jesus Christ is the same yesterday & today & forever.
We have Jesus directive to love one another. It is
written – John 13:34-335 – “A New command I give you:
Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love
one another. By this everyone will know that you are My
disciples if you love one another.”
Even though LilBit is a horse, she has been given the gift
from our Creator of mightiness in her stature & strength,
humbleness from her willingness to want to please me
thru of the loving relationship I have developed with her.
So, be mighty as God’s warriors, be humble emulating
Jesus & love one another. What a wonderful world this
would be if everyone followed these simple truths.
Thank you, Jesus for the ability to share this information with my brothers & sisters. Mary Bowden

Great picture Suzie!
In the book of Nehemiah it is written that he wept over the remnant of
Israelites who had survived their captivity & were in great distress. He
fasted, prayed & pleaded to God on their behalf that He would forgive
them & once again find favor in them. Nehemiah was a cupbearer to
the king. The king saw Nehemiah was sad & after speaking with him
the king granted Nehemiah his request to go to Judah & rebuild it. He
arrived, spoke with the people & explained how the hand of God had
been favorable to him & what words the king had spoken to him so
they could rebuild Judah & the protective wall. They would no longer
be a disgrace to God & could stand strong with the wall protecting
them against other peoples in the lands who would destroy them.
I’M COMING HOME Brenda sings
Woke up this morning with You on my mind I’m coming to see You, it’s just a matter of time. And my heart’s been longing
to see Your sweet face. Oh, I’m getting ready to feel Your embrace.
I’m coming home Lord, it won’t be too long. It’s almost over, time for traveling on. Open the gates wide & let me step
on inside. Cause that’s where I belong, I’m coming home.
You took care of me thru all of my days. You’ve been a good Friend, I’m still counting the ways. Oh, so if it’s today Lord,
that You call me home. I’m saying Good byes now, I’ll be moving along. C.
HIS LOVE FLOWS Debbie sings
He’s the reason for the sun shiney sky & He’s the reason why I’m feeling so high. Must be the season when His love light
shines all around us. So, let that feeling grab you deep inside & send you reeling where your faith can’t hide & then go
steelin’ thru your life with Christ forever.
So, let His love flow like a mountain stream & let His love grow with the smallest of dreams. And let His love show &
you’ll know what I mean, it’s the season. Let His love fly like a bird on a wing & let His love bind you to all living things
& let His love shine & you’ll know what I mean, it’s the season.
There’s a reason for His warm, sweet love & He’s the reason for the Heavens above & He’s the reason His love light shine
all around you. So, let your faith take you to His place & feel the warmth of His loving embrace. Just see His light as it
shines on your face, you’ve got to go there. C.
JUST ANOTHER RAINY DAY Adam sings
Storm clouds are coming & you’re still humming yesterday’s victory tune, you’ve got it all together, but you haven’t seen
the weather that’s coming when the day is thru. But if you stop & listen & just pay attention to the word God has today.
He knows what you need & you can believe anything He has to say.
If God says build an ark it won’t be just another rainy day. If God tells you to start you better not hesitate. He’s got a
master plan He’s working & the best thing for you to do is obey. If God says build an ark, it won’t be just another rainy
day.
Struggling & trying on your knees crying, I can’t make it any more. Your praying to the Father to just come & water your
soul with the word from the Lord. A dry & thirsty season is just the right reason to believe that God’s about to move. In
the heat of the day you just trust & obey. God’s got a plan for you. C.
I SURRENDER ALL Janie sings
All to Jesus I surrender, all to Him I freely give. I will ever love & trust Him, in His presence daily live.
I surrender all, I surrender all, All to Thee my blessed Savior, I surrender all.
All to Jesus I surrender. Make me, Savior wholly Thine. Let me feel the Holy Spirit, truly know that Thou art mine. C.
All to Jesus I surrender. Lord, I give myself to Thee. Fill me with Thy love & power, let Thy blessing fall on me. C.
I BELIEVE IN A HILL CALLED MOUNT CALVARY/THE OLD RUGGES CROSS Pastor Bobby/Adam/Mary sing
I believe in a hill called Mt. Calvary. I believe what ever the cost & when time has surrendered & earth is no
more. I’ll still cling to the old rugged cross.
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross; the emblem of suffering & shame. And I love that old cross where
the dearest & best for a world of lost sinners was slain. So, I’ll cherish the old rugged cross till my trophies at
last I lay down. And I’ll cling to the old rugged cross & exchange it someday for a crown.
I believe that the Christ Who was slain on the cross has the power to change lives today. For He changed me
completely, a new life is mine. That is why by the cross I will stay. I believe in a hill called Mt. Calvary. I believe
whatever the cost & when time has surrendered & earth is no more, I’ll still cling to the old rugged cross.
So, I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down. I will cling to the old rugged cross &
exchange it someday for a crown.
BAPTISM Rick sings
The summer breeze made ripples on the pond & rattled thru the reeds & the willow trees
beyond. Daddy in his good hat & mama in her Sunday dress watched with pride as I stood there
in the water up to my chest. And the preacher spoke about the cleansing blood as I sank my
toes into the cool East Texas mud.
And it was down with the old man, up with the new raised to walk in the ways of light &
truth. I didn’t see no angels, just a few saints on the shore, but I felt like a newborn baby
cradled up in the arms of the Lord.
Amazing Grace, oh how sweet the sound. There was glory in the air, there was dinner on the
ground & my sins which were many were washed away & gone along with a Buffalo Nickel I
forgot to leave at home. But that seemed like such a small, small price to pay for the blessed
peace of mind that came to me that day. C.
This road is long & dusty, sometimes the soul it must be cleansed & I long to feel that water
rushing over me again. C.
