3 Lesson 1

And God SaidGenesis 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24, 26, 29

God created the world and everything

there is. God created the angels before

He created the planets. Earth is one of

the planets. Genesis 1:1 teaches God

created “the heaven and the earth.”

Genesis 1:2, “And the earth was without

form, and void; and darkness was upon

the face of the deep.” God is the Creator

who could and did create the world from

nothing.

“And God said” is used nine times in

Genesis chapter 1. This shows what a

mighty God we have. Those three words

were all that was necessary for Him to

say for the world, as we know it, to be

formed.

This took God six days to perform.

Day 1 He created day and night. Day 2

He created the heaven. Day 3 He created

Earth with plants, herbs and grass. He

made these to reproduce. Day 4 the sun,

moon and stars became visible. Day 5 He

placed animal life in the waters. Day 6

God created land animals and man, who

was made in His image, and placed them

on the Earth.

After each day of creating, God saw it

was good. Everything God created was

good. It was not until man and his sin

that anything bad was in this world.

We have many powerful tools we use

today to create but none can compare

to God and what He created in six days.

Builders can build tall buildings. Large

planes are built that fly around the world.

Computers can process information at

an unbelievably fast rate. We can be

amazed by all of this. However, none of

it can compare to what God did. None of

this could be done if God had not first

created the “heaven and the earth.”

LessonObjective

I will know God spoke the universe into existence.

BiblePrinciple

God created the universe by the power of His word.

God’s Wonders

Page 5: Gifts to Us Learner’s Manual

Over six thousand years have passed since God created Adam. Time moves or flows from the future into the present, from the present into the past. The time line below shows the approximate time people lived in Bible history until Jesus came to die for the sins of the world and to the present. Over two thousand years have passed since Jesus came to Earth. Time before Jesus came to Earth is labeled BC—before Christ. Time after Jesus came is labeled AD—anno Domini, in the year of our Lord. It does not mean after death.
