CowMilk is an excellent source of calcium, protein, and other nutrients that the human body needs. The gift of a dairy cow provides fresh milk for a needy family, and it also allows them to sell any extra milk. With the money they make from selling the milk, they can buy food and clothes.

You can also give the gift of a young beef cow to provide a family with nutritious meat or offspring. Or, the family can eventually sell the beef cow to buy things they need.

Goat Goats can survive easily by eating wild plants, and they don’t require much space. In countries like Liberia, Haiti, and Nicaragua, goat meat is a staple food. A male goat provides 45 to 50 pounds of meat, and a female goat produces at least one kid each year. Goats are a good source of food and income for struggling families.

Pig A piglet weighs about 3.3 pounds at birth and doubles its weight in just sev-en days. Because pigs eat almost any food scraps, the cost of feeding a pig is very small. If you give a needy family in Liberia, Haiti, or other developing countries a pig, they can butcher it for meat or use it to raise piglets.

Chickens for UkraineChickens are a good source of eggs and meat for Ukrainians who find it hard to feed their families. Eggs are full of protein, and the meat from chickens is nutritious and low in sodium. Chickens don’t require much feed or much land, and they can be a big blessing to a struggling family.

HoneybeesA hive of honeybees is a big help for families that don’t have enough land to grow crops. The families can sell honey and wax that the bees produce. In Romania, agricultural taxes are extremely high, but beehives are not taxed. This makes bee-keeping a good project for families that want to support themselves.

One beehive $175 05

Beef cows for EgyptMost of Egypt’s population–about 87 mil-lion people–live in the area around the Nile River. This area is good for growing crops and raising animals, but the rest of Egypt is mostly desert. Because the population of Egypt is growing, cities are taking over land that used to be farmland. This is making life difficult for many Egyptian farmers.

One way you can help is by giving a beef cow to an Egyptian family. The family will feed it for one year and then butcher it and sell the meat. If their cow has a calf within the year, it can also be raised for meat, and the meat can be sold. Families agree with CAM to use the money they receive from selling meat to buy another cow. This allows them to continue earning.

ChainsawKeeping a house warm during the cold win-ters has always been a challenge for poor families in Ukraine. Now it’s even more dif-ficult, as the price of natural gas to heat their homes keeps rising because of the war. The gift of a chainsaw gives a Ukrainian family the opportunity to cut firewood for them-selves and their neighbors, which will help keep them warm through the winter.

Garden toolsGardens provide food and income for poor families. But without the proper tools, it’s hard for them to cul-tivate, plant, and hoe their gardens. In Liberia and Haiti, the ground is often hard and rocky. For $30 you can provide a set of garden tools that include things like a rake, hoe, pick, machete, scythe, sickle bar, bucket, ax, pitchfork, or shovel. For $60, you can also provide a wheelbarrow or hand cultivator.

Tractor and farm equipmentRomania and Ukraine are known for their rich, black topsoil that is perfect for farming. Although the topsoil has tremendous potential to produce boun-tiful harvests, many farmers do not have tractors or other farm equipment to cultivate the soil. The gift of a tractor or other equipment such as a plow, disc, sprayer, planter, hay cutter, or trailer will greatly benefit a struggling farmer, and help him provide for his family.

Family-Self-SupportPoor families often want to provide for themselves but simply lack resources. Helping a family start their own small business may be all it takes to move them from poverty to productivity. The gift of a greenhouse, agricultural land, farm equipment, construction tools, or another resource gives a family in a developing country a chance to earn a good living.

Loving the refugeesMany of the people who escaped the war in Syria are children. They bring with them terrible memories of bombs that fell around their homes, sometimes de-stroying their houses and killing their friends. Many of the children had family members who were killed in the war. Because of this, refugee children are often sad and withdrawn. They carry painful memories and are plagued by fear.

CAM contacts who distribute food and other aid to the refugees also reach out to them in other ways. They take time to play with the children and listen to their sad stories. Once the children feel their love, they are willing to open up. They become happier and less withdrawn. Reaching out to these children with the love of God is a very important part of ministering to the refugees.

Feed a refugee familyRefugees fleeing their homes often leave everything be-hind. Sometimes their homes have been destroyed so there is nothing left to take with them. Other times they have no way to carry anything from their homes since they are escaping by foot. When the refugees arrive in a new country, they often don’t have food, medicines, or adequate clothing. You can help parents feed their chil-dren by providing them with a food parcel.

Houses for Ukrainian refugeesMany people in Ukraine fled their homes in the midst of explosions and gunshots. They left with only the things they could carry and were forced to find shelter wherever they could. Many now live in abandoned houses with poor roofs and in need of other repairs. This is especially difficult in the win-ter when temperatures in Ukraine dip well below freezing. Your gift can help make a home more suitable for a Ukrainian refugee family.

Helping the disabledCan you imagine what life would be like if you couldn’t walk or run? Some chil-dren are born with disabilities or have had accidents, and now they are not able to use their legs. If their families are poor, there is no money to buy a wheelchair. They may have to stay in bed, crawl around, or have someone carry them. For those who cannot walk by themselves, a wheelchair can be a life-changing gift.

Help for an emergency Liline Moise came to the CAM clinic in Haiti, with an enlarged, painful abdomen. The nurses suspected that her illness was life-threatening and paid for her to go to a hospital four hours away. There, the doctors did surgery that helped fix Liline’s stomach problems. She was able to return home feeling much better, much to the joy of her family.

Medical emergencies are hard for anyone. But needy people find it especial-ly hard to save for things like hospital bills. Your gift can give a poor family hope in the midst of a crisis.

Feed a hungry family The Bible says, “Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.” This means that God is happy when we care about poor people. In countries like Liberia and Haiti, some families eat only one meal a day because they don’t have money to buy more food. With a gift of $45, you can help a poor family by giving them a 35-pound box of good food to fill their hungry stomachs. That might sound like a lot of money—maybe you can team up with your classmates, cousins, sisters, or brothers.

food

Food for widowsThe Bible tells an amazing story about a needy widow who had only a handful of flour and a little oil left in her house. A terrible famine gripped Zarephath, the land where she lived, and food was scarce. The widow thought she and her son would die. Then the prophet Elijah came to stay at their house, and a miracle happened. The flour and oil didn’t run out, even though the widow used it every day to make little cakes.

Just like this widow in the Bible, Filina in Haiti is also a widow and strug-gles to find enough food to eat. Yet, just like the widow in Zarephath, God looks out for her. Every month, she receives a food parcel from CAM. She says, “You are the ones who help me when I have no one to help.” There are many more widows like Filina all over the world who have no one to depend on for help.

Help the elderly When Jesus was a baby, His parents took Him to the temple, the place where they worshipped God. In the temple, an old man named Simeon took Jesus in his arms and prophesied that He would be the Saviour of the world. He was right! It blessed Jesus’ parents to hear Simeon’s words.

Old people are often wise and experienced. But sometimes they suffer phys-ically. Maybe they can’t see well or it is hard for them to walk. Some of them can’t work because of sickness. In poor countries like Liberia, Romania, and Haiti, it can be especially hard for elderly people to find enough food to eat. For $49, you can bless a needy, elderly person by giving them 25 pounds of food and healthcare items.

Project Baby MosesAn estimated 40-50 thousand babies are aborted each year in Israel. Social pressures and poverty often play a part in women’s decisions to abort their babies. Crisis pregnancy centers provide love and support to help women choose to keep their babies. Through a CAM-sponsored crisis center, your gift will help to provide formula, diapers, clothes, a crib, and other items for the baby’s first year. A new mother receives God-honoring counsel and emo-tional support that assists her in nurturing her child.

Bibles for people who have noneSome churches in communist countries have only one Bible to share among their members. Some believers have only a few pages of the Scriptures. Gov-ernment restrictions and poverty make it hard for these people to get more Bibles. For just $2 you can provide a Bible for someone who doesn’t have one. It’s important for believers around the world to have God’s Word in their own language, so they can understand and obey the Bible and share the Gospel with others. Gospel billboards—A little light Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” All across the United States, CAM billboards stand as lights for Jesus. When people see these billboards, it makes them think about God. Sometimes they call the phone number listed on the board and want one of our phone team members to pray with them. Some callers repent of their sins and decide to follow God. Your gift will help put up a Gospel billboard and shine the light of Jesus in our country.

also useful for classrooms, Sunday schools, and other settings

Are you looking for a way to generate interest and tally offerings from your vacation Bible school, Sunday school, homeschool, or classroom? Maybe you would like a project that informs your students about needy children in other parts of the world and provides an opportunity to help. We invite you to consider our 11 FREE kits originally designed to tally vacation Bible school offerings, but which can be adapted to other settings.

Each kit includes a full-color poster, chart, and stickers. The poster de-scribes a CAM project and the chart and stickers show the children what their gifts are accomplishing. Children enjoy seeing stickers of wheelchairs, medi-cines, Bibles, Bible story books, vegetable trucks, orphans, or school supplies pile up as the offerings increase.

Short, recorded slide presentations are now available on CD for most of our kits. They can be requested on the enclosed VBS kit order form.

PREPARE HAITIAN YOUTH to provide for themselvesFrances Bijoux is doing something that is rare for a young man in rural Haiti. He is saving money. Frances is part of a SALT Microfinance youth savings group and has learned that even a small amount of money, if managed care-fully, can make a big difference.

Members of a youth savings group work toward the goal of purchasing a goat. They need to save for half the price of a goat and then they receive a loan to pay the remaining cost. Before they receive their goat, they must go through training on animal husbandry and build a shelter for the goat. With the goat they purchase, they can start a small herd of their own.

When youth experience the satisfaction of embracing responsibility, working diligently, and successfully reaching a goal, it can impact the rest of their lives.

disaster response/rapid response

Adopt-A-House“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:39

When Jesus was with His disciples on the Sea of Galilee, He calmed a terrible storm that threatened to destroy their lives. Every year in the United States, storms, floods, and wildfires destroy hundreds of homes, leaving families to wonder how they will survive. CAM’s Adopt-A-House project provides building materials and volunteer labor to help families that cannot afford to rebuild. As victims see the love of Jesus through our staff, volunteers, and donors, it brings a calming presence in their lives.

You can join with other donors to help a family get a roof over their heads. A gift as small as $28 can supply a gallon of paint and a gift as big as $1,100 can provide an entire footer.
