Due to its various meanings the verb get is used in different structures and contexts.

get + something / someone = obtain / receive / buy / fetch / find / bring / understand

Ex.: - Did you already get the parcel?- Where did you get such a beautiful dress?

- Can you get a job in Chile without a working visa?- Could you get the paper for me, please?- I couldnt get her. She had already left.

- I didnt get a word of what he said. He was speaking Chinese.

get + adjective = become / turnEx.: - Hurry up! lunch is getting cold.

- If you dont rest, you get tired.- I never get dressed before breakfast.

- Sue and Paul got married last week.- Ian is getting better faster than we expected.- They went for a walk in the forest and got lost.

get to + place = arrive

Ex.: - I usually leave my house at 7:45 and get to my office at 8:15.- How can I get to the nearest supermarket?- We always get to school on time.

*Exception : get home

- What time do you get home?

get in / into & get out of (a car)/ get on & get off (a bus, a train, a plane)Ex.: - They got in / into the car and drove away.

- The bus stopped and she got off.
