    HE OURDuring September and October 2014, the OJS willtour through Europe and Israel. Successive per-formances are scheduled in Tel-Aviv , Jerusalem

    , Berlin, Frankfurt , Paris , Strassburg, Madrid ,Barcelona , Valencia , Pamplona , La Corua andSantiago de Compostela .

    It is a youth orchestra, but with theaim to achieve a high level as professionals.

    HE SODREYOUH ORCHESRASodre Youth Orchestra is the National Youth Or-

    chestra of Uruguay and develops its main seasonin the Sodre National Auditorium Adela Reta.It has conquered the public opinion because ofthe quality shown on its concerts and has becomean indispensable tool for training and promotingnew musical talents.Its director and founder, Mtro. Ariel Britos, hasbeen awarded as the UNESCO Artist for Peace,has received the National Award for Citizen Ex-cellence by the Latin American Center for Deve-

    lopment, the Ariel de Oro award of the Ateneo de

    Montevideo and the Fraternity Award from theBnai Brith.Keeping the spirit of its origins which is integra-ted in the system of Youth and Children Orches-tras of Uruguay, the training pursues, besidesmusical excellence, to enhance the intellectualand cultural development in youth and to capturenew audiences.Its more than 100 members carry out cultural andacademic exchanges with artists of international

    careers who contribute to their experience and

    projection.In 2012 and 2013 the Youth Orchestra receivedthe Golden Citizen national award issued by theLatin American Center for Development andreceived the standing ovation in various per-formances it presented in U.S.A. and Panama,highlighting the performance at the Hall of theAmericas in the OAS in Washington DC.

    ARIEL BRIOSFounder of the System of Youth and ChildrenOrchestras of Uruguay and Director of the SodreYouth Orchestra.

    For his concern for the promotion of social inter-vention strategies through music he has been ho-nored as UNESCO Artist for Peace, also awardedwith the 2013 Fraternity Award from the BnaiBrith, Banda del Yi award from the DuraznoIntendancy, a Distinction from the Rotary Club ofFlorida, the Quijote Award from the CervantesCollege, the Ariel de Oro award from the Ateneode Montevideo and he was also was recognized asGolden Citizen for two consecutive years by theLatin American Development Center.

    He was trained in Venezuela for the conductionof Children and Youth Orchestras, by applyingmethods developed by Maestro Jos AntonioAbreu, based on studying and learning musicalinstruments through the Intensive OrchestralPractice.

    He is an active participant in UNESCO pro-

    grams, the OAS and the CAF for the Creationand Development of a Latin American Systemof Youth and Children Orchestras and Choirs ;also participated in a seminar on Leadership,Democracy and Social Development in the In-ter-American Institute for Social Development ofthe Inter-American Development Bank.

    In the international scene, he has directed in Ve-nezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile,Brazil and Germany, and also directed the Jos

    Artigas Youth Symphony during its Internatio-nal tours: Chile (2006), Te United States (2008)and Spain (2010), highlighting his participationat the Festival Internacional de Jvenes Orques-tas de Murcia (i.e. International Festival of YoungOrchestras of Murcia), were he received exceptio-nal crytics from the Spanish magazine specializedon music Scherzo; i.e. ... the charras, trulyespectacular...under the direction of an electrif-ying Britos...

    Since 2011 he directs the SODRE Youth Orches-tra on its main performances at the AuditorioNacional del Sodre Adela Reta (i.e. Sodre Na-tional Auditorium Adela Reta) and on its inter-national tours on Panam and the United States(2013) which ended in the Hall of the Americasof OAS in Washington DC, where they received astanding ovation.

    HE FOUNDAIONTe Fundacin Sistema de Orquestas Juveni-les e Infantiles del Uruguay ( i.e. System ofYouth and Children Orchestras of Uruguay),

    is a non for profit organization that promotesthe study of music as a tool of human, inte-llectual and social development in Uruguayanchildren and youngsters.

    Our children Involved in orchestras andchoirs, integrate values such as respect forothers, perseverance in the effort, develop-ment of concentration, elevating self esteem,habits of responsibility and teamwork.

    Tese acquired values are rapidly projected intheir communities and families, who take as

    an example of improvement, the efforts andachievements that reaches every child.Te Foundation participates in the global

    network called Te System that takes as anexample the dynamics of the Accin Socialpor la Msica (i.e. Social Action for Music),launched in Venezuela in 1975 by the inter-nationally renowned Maestro Jos AntonioAbreu.

    Nowadays in Uruguay there are working ninecenters of training called ncleos (i.e. cores)where more than 1200 children are participa-ting, and since the age of five they receive aninstrument and begin their musical training.
