Trinuch was a small village in northern India, with a major

proportion of children population. Amongst those small, sweet

children, lived a 9 years old girl named Gita. She lived in her

own dreams. She had Dreams to fly, Dreams to see the whole

world. She started dreaming a long ago when she lost her legs

in an accident. She was 3 years old, and since then she used a

wheelchair to roam around. She was bounded to the village

only, especially to her house.

She was not allowed to go outside her home without the

assistance of someone, specially her Abba. Even to go to her

school, her Abba helped with her wheelchair.

She was very unhappy by the restrictions in her life, which gave

birth to those beautiful dreams. She everyday used to see

sparrows which come and sit in the veranda. She always

wanted to be like them.

She hated studies the most. She envied by seeing all the other

children running and playing around and specially going on

vacations to far mountains with their family. She always had

an urge to just throw all the books and borrow wings from the

Fairy, she heard in most of the fairy tales.

One day when she was coming back from school, alone thistime as Abba was ill that day. She noticed a strange man

standing at the corner of the road. As she was passing him,

trying not to look at him, the man jumped and stood in front of

her.

Hi, my name is Shankar. You want to fly. Am I right? The man

asked with a smile on his face.

Gita was astonished to what she heard.

Yes, But how do you know that? She asked with a suspicion.

One the other hand her heart was pounding because in so

many years at least someone cared about her dreams.

I am a friend of all the sweet children here and I know

everybodys dreams. Shankar replied with the same attracting

smile.

I can take you with me to the World tour. Would you like to

join me? His dark grey eyes seemed so confident that anyone

could believe him.

Gita looked at him carefully. He had long beard and moustache.He was wearing long wardrobe and a tall cap. She became a

little scared and tried to pass by him.

No No, Dont be scared. We will become best friends. We

together will throw all your books and I will give you beautiful

clothes and lots of toys. He tried his best this time.

OK, but I have to inform my Abba about this tour. She was

still a little scared but was happy from inside.

There is no time to inform anyone. Bus would be arriving

anytime. We will send a telegram from the next village. He

assured her.

OK, lets go. She was very happy with this jump start of her

dreams.

She didnt believe that this could be the start of her dreams.But whosoever was with him, her only motive was to see the

world, icy mountains, sea beaches, rivers.

Shankar helped Gita with the wheelchair and they both

proceeded towards bus stand. They went few yards when a boy

stopped them.

Gita, Where are you heading to? Who is he? He asked.

Hi, Gopal, he is my new friend Shankar. And Shankar, he is

Gopal, my classmate. She introduced both of them.

We are going to see the whole... Gita was about to complete

when when Shankar interrupted.

Gita, we are getting late. We will miss our bus. Shankar

continued.

Oh yes, lets go, She started the wheelchair with her own

hands.Bye Gopal.

She waved a bye to Gopal. Gopal did the same in reply.

Gopal became little suspicious on the strange man, but ignored

sensing to be something personal.

After a few minutes of walk they reached bus stand and started

waiting for the bus. After a few minutes bus arrived.

They boarded the bus and Shankar bought tickets for the next

village, Pilhari.

But we were going on a world tour, arent we? Then why ticket

to Pilhari. She was horrified.

Every journey starts with a single step, my little daughter, He

said giving her assurance. We will roam the whole world but

village by village.

It took 2 hours to reach to PIlhari.

Shankar helped Gita disembarking the bus.

Its my hometown. Shankar said.

Really, it would be a nice place to visit, I suppose. I want to

see your home. She jumped on her wheelchair out of

excitement.

Yes, we will stay at my place tonight then we will depart for

the next village tomorrow evening. He explained.

Great.

Shankar started pushing Gitas wheelchair and after a few

minutes of walking they reached a house which seemed to Gita

as it was closed for many years.

Is it really your home? Gita was horrified.

Yes it is. I have not been here since last few years. I live in

town. He explained.

He took her inside the house and let her to be comfortable in

the bedroom. Soon Gita was off to sleep. Few moments later

Shankar lifted Gita and threw her on the wheelchair and tiedher with a rope.

What are you doing? We are friends. Gita shouted.

ha ha ha ha, yes we are friends and will remain friends till I

eat you. He laughed making scary faces.

Gita became terrified and started crying.

Dont worry; I wont eat you till I buy some spices to cook you,

from the next town. I am going and will be back by tomorrow

morning.

You will be a delicious breakfast. He left the house laughing.

There in Trinuch Village, Abba was worried for her daughter as

it was 3 p.m. and still her daughter was not home. He went to

the school and inquired about Gita. All replied with the same

answer that Gita left the school on time. Abba tried searching

everywhere but got no clue about her. Finally he thought to go

back home and inform Panchayat in the morning. While on the

way back, he saw Gopal playing cricket.

Hey son, Have u seen my daughter Gita? She is not back from

school yet. Abba looked worried.

Yes, I saw her with strange man going towards bus stand. Ithought you know about him. He answered.

How......how he looked like? The old man asked.

As much I remember, he was wearing strange long clothes and

he had long hair and beard. And yes, Gita introduced him as

her friend.

Son, will you help me finding my beloved daughter? Herequested.

Sure, she is my friend too. But, where will we find her. Gopal

asked in confusion.

You said they were headed to bus stand. Lets ask few people

at the bus stand. He already started walking.

Abba inquired about her daughter from a Chai-Wala. And he

said that he saw a girl and an old man boarding a bus to Pilhari.

They both took bus to PIlhari. As soon as they reached there,

they started asking people about a girl on a wheelchair. Nobody

saw a girl like that. After few hours of search Abba was very

tired. He decided to go back but he was feeling too thirsty and

decided to drink some water from the river which was visiblefrom there but was quite far. They decided to walk to the river.

While Abba was drinking water, he heard someone crying out

loud. It was a familiar voice. He looked around and

concentrated on the sound. It was coming from the house next

to the river.

Son, can you hear a girl crying. I am pretty sure its Gitas

voice. The sound is coming from there. Abba said pointingtowards the strange house.

So lets cross the rivers and rescue Gita. He hurried towards

the river.

Abba stopped the child and said, No,we cannot cross it. Its

very deep and notice the vague of it. Even if we reach there, it

would be impossible to make Gita cross it back.

They also went there. There must be some other way. Gopal

said.

Yes, there would be a way but we cant choose that way as the

kidnapper might see us. By going through river we will reach

back of the house, Abba explained.

But, its impossible to cross this river. He intrigued.

Come with me.

Abba went to a local school and met the principal. He explained

everything and asked for the help. Principal agreed and ordered

all his students to go along the old man.

Abba and Gopal along with all children reached the river. Abba

told them everything what happened and requested for help.

Everybody readily agreed to help him. Abba instructed by

pointing to all the big rocks and pieces of wood to throw them

in the river at a particular point.

All of them started throwing rocks and wood into the river andin a matter of 2 hours, they made a raw path on the river.

Abba decided to go alone and instructed few children to call

the local Panchayat.

Abba went inside carefully and found Gita crying. There was no

one in the house. He rescued Gita on his shoulders.

He was very happy to get her back. They both came out and

crossed the river safely. All the children were very happy.

Gita started crying and promised that she will never do this

again. She promised she will never talk to any strange man.

She also promised that she will study hard and make Abba

happy.

Panchayat with the help of the local police grabbed the strange

guy and he is in jail now.

Abba and Gita are living happy with each other now.

She is also very happy with all her school friends and goes to

school every day and study hard. She even made a beautiful

drawing of herself with her school mates, her teacher and her

beloved Abba.
