Norovirus is the most contagious of all viruses and very tough to beat.

A member of the Calici virus family it has a very tough protein outer coat compared to

other viruses like influenza. As few as 10 viral particles can initiate a Norovirus infection and

transmission occurs through ingesting contaminated food or water, by person to person

contact or from contaminated surfaces. Norovirus can also be aerolised from sufferer’s

vomit and the virus continues to be shed from patients days after symptoms disappear.

There is no vaccine or other effective treatment.
