Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS)

21

Page 22: GLA Parent Student Handbook 2014-2015.docx · Web viewOur goal is to provide a quality education that prepares our students for the high school, college, and the workplace. We focus

At GLA, we work with students to promote positive behavior both during and after school. It is for this reason, we have implemented school wide Positive Behavior Intervention Supports. This is not a program, but a framework for designing and implementing proactive and preventive interventions.

Our acronym is REACH:● Respect● Excel● Accountability● Character● Honesty

PBIS is a way for us to ACTIVELY monitor behavior while maintaining consistency throughout the building.

Below are consequences for the different behavior levels. ● Contact Home● Classroom infraction report(LLR)● Reflective Lunch● After School Detention● AEA (In School Suspension)● Out of School Suspension

If a student is assigned Out of School Suspension, they are not allowed to attend after school activities for that day. This includes after school programs, games, evening activities, and practices.

Citizenship

It is important for our students to maintain citizenship. Maintaining citizenship comes with rewards to attend dances and other school functions. Citizenship is established with each grading period.

Citizenship is maintained using the following criteria…

● Grades of C or better● No AEA or out of school suspensions● No U’s (Unsatisfactory Behavior) on report cards

GLA Paw prints

● Paw Prints will be used to reward behavior that exemplifies our REACH acronym.

o Respect (red)o Excel (yellow)o Accountability (orange)
