Christmas Jumper Day Friday 1st December.

£1 In aid of

Save the Children.

EYFS/Year 1 Trip to the Pantomime and Year 4,5 and 6 trip to Bury Cathedral You should have received a letter about these planned visits. Please ensure that the payment for the trip is returned to your child’s

Class Teacher as soon as possible. Without these payments, the trips cannot take place and will have to

be cancelled. If you are concerned about being able to meet the costs of the trip, please speak to your child’s Class

Teacher. These trips are not “optional” - they occur during the day so are part of our school

curriculum. We expect all pupils to take part. Trips are hugely enjoyable for pupils and often form their fondest memories of

Primary School. We are grateful for your support with trips and visits.

Christmas RE Wow day! On Wednesday 29th November, all classes are having a special RE curriculum day

Friday 3rd November was our Election Day

for choosing School Councillors.

Every class got to visit our Polling Station. “Are you eligible to vote today?”

Decisions, decisions... Posting in the ballot box!

Now that every class has visited our polling station, Poppy and Xander, Year 6, have the busy

task of manning the electoral office and

counting the votes. We hope there are no spoiled votes! To

find out our new School Councillors, look overleaf!

Every child wrote a manifesto about why they would be suitable for representing their class as a School Council Member. Older children who

wished to be candidates were then questioned by their peers before going through to the final elections. The classes had discussed “what

makes a good leader” so knew what type of person to look for! Our new School Councillors will meet regularly with Mrs Nicholson,

School Council Leader, representing the opinions of their peers to help make school an even better place. Thank you to Mrs Nicholson for organising such a wonderful learning opportunity for our pupils.

Here is the list of the Glade School Pupil Parliament!

Well done, everyone!

School Milk We are going to trial giving pupils their milk at registration time first thing in the morning. This is because some of our pupils are finding they use up a lot of their morning playtime having their milk/ fruit snack and don’t have a lot of time to run around and have fun! Some of our pupils are complaining of being hungry in the mornings. Please make sure they have breakfast before school and that KS2 parents provide a fruit snack for playtimes. It’s a long time to wait until lunchtime if children haven’t had anything to eat!

Changing Rooms We have been thinking about how best to use the space we have available in school, especially now we have extra classrooms in our new building. One of our plans is to move our current library into “The Nest” which used to be Year 6 Kestrels’ Classroom. This is a much bigger space and will allow us to develop our library to promote a love of learning. We also hope to develop this into a “community learning room” where we will hold story cafes and parents’ workshops. Our school Librarian is Mrs Petrie and she has great plans for how to make our library really exciting. We are always looking for new books at school and, if you have any good quality children’s books no longer used at home, please consider donating these to school. We can also always make use of puzzles, toys and games that are no longer used but in good condition. They help keep our children entertained during wet playtimes! Similarly, if you have any children’s dressing up clothes or toys that could be used for children’s role-play in reception, we would be delighted to have them. If you are able to donate any of these items, please drop off at the office. They will be put to great use in school! We know we have lots of creative people in our school community! If you think you can help develop our library or EYFS area, or have any super ideas, please let us know!

Can you help us transform our library?
