  1. 1. Glass wool: the better insulator
  2. 2. Glass wool insulation is among the most commonly used insulating material used worldwide. Some of the more important properties that make it suitable as insulating material are soundproofing properties, light weight, exceptionally resilient qualities, high yield point, thermal strength and high resistance to degradation due to changing weather. The temperature range inside which they can be comfortably used is also quite high and ranges from -50 degree Celsius to +250 degree Celsius. These properties make Glass wool extremely suitable for insulation.
  3. 3. The reason is large fluctuation in temperature from winter to summer season. Glass wool insulation keep the inside cool during summers and warm during winters. In Delhi, these insulations are majorly used in thermal insulation of commercial building, residential buildings, portable cabins, PEB industries, sound insulation in process industries, automobile industries etc. Glass wool insulators are essentially long and fine inorganic fibers that are connected together by use of high temperature fusion binding. Inside them, there are millions of these fibers distributed evenly throughout the volume.
  4. 4. They form little pockets inside which air gets trapped and provides the insulation properties. The density ranges from 10 Kg per cubic centimeter to 100 kg per cubic centimeter. It is chemically inert hence does not respond to any degradation caused by chemicals present in the air. This property also makes Glass wool insulation in Delhi a suitable choice as the air of Delhi has high content of impurities such as iron shots, sulphur and chloride.
  5. 5. Insulating materials made up of Glass wool, because of their light weight, are easily installed. At the same time, it offers great dimensional stability. Also, it offers great many advantages over other insulating materials such as asbestos. Some of the most important advantages are it is non-carcinogenic while asbestos is. A major advantage that glass wool provides and which makes it extremely useful in todays times is that it is usually made up of renewable and bio- degradable material and so is environmentfriendly.
