A Few Moments with Thomas…
I have been pondering what to write this time around and
every time I come back to the same thing. It is from a message I
gave over the summer titled " What does the Lord require of
You?" It is a simple message with a few tasks to work on every
day for spiritual and personal growth.
We found the answer in the book of Micah chapter 6. It was first given to the Israelites but
it is also for us today, everyday. So here is something for you to practice for yourself but also a
challenging question to ask others as well.
"What does the Lord require of You? And the answer to the question is; The Lord requires
of us to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God. Simple right? Well, yes and no; it
depends on who you are.
Justice means: to do what is right, to walk even as Christ walked when He lived here on
earth, to do that which is honest and fair. So what do you think? Do you think you can do
this first challenge? Do you think you can do it consistently? Maybe you can. Maybe you
are just one of those people that always does the right thing, makes the right choices. Or
are you someone who slips up on occasion, like me. I try, but sometimes temptation gets in
the way. Thank God we have a loving and forgiving God.
To love mercy: the ability to have compassion or forgiveness. To be able to show it to-
ward someone who may not deserve it. How about that? That's a little bit harder.
And finally, To walk humbly with God: to live in obedience to His commands, and have
communion with Him, to allow God to know you, walking humbly with your God includes
being a servant to both God and man (People), putting others first.
Well, that is my thought. Some days we accomplish this task and then there are other days
when we don't but, thank God for His Son that is Savior and Lord of our lives, to allow us to con-
tinue to grow in him. Till then, see you on Sunday.

The worship committee thanks all of the faithful people who have read scripture during worship services. Hearing
God’s Word read by neighbors and friends is very moving for the worshiper and we thank you for this act of service to
the Lord. We welcome all who wish to read scripture. A schedule is posted in the back of the sanctuary. Please continue
to serve by reading again. Readers are needed for a some Sundays in August and September.
The outreach team is grateful for the faithful service of all who serve as greeters and look forward to everyone in
the congregation serving at least one Sunday this year. A schedule can be found in the back of the sanctuary.

Our Koinonia suppers will resume on
October 12th at 6:30 p.m. Please
mark your calendar now so you won’t
miss this fellowship opportunity.
We will welcome Mary Lou Ryan of Middleburgh as our

will share her experiences preparing for and during that trip as
well as some changes that are coming in the national program

Living a Chocolate Life
Bible Study
Attention women: Mark your calen-
dars for the return of this fun six-
session series. If you missed it in the
spring, please plan to join us this fall:
Wednesday evenings, Oct. 19 & 26,
Nov. 2, 9 & 30, and Dec. 7.
We’ll learn about experiencing bitter
nuggets of pain to sweet morsels of
joy and how to live in the rich and
endless supply of the grace that is
ours because of Jesus. (Oh, and we’ll
also eat chocolate at each session!)
Please take out your calendar –either on the
wall, in your bag or in your phone—and mark
November 8th for our annual pancake sup-
per. We will need you to do your part to
make it successful again this year! Please volunteer in one
of these areas: promotion (signs, posters, media), set up,
clean up, kitchen, dishwashing, tickets, dessert baking,
basket raffle. PLEASE make this commitment now.

Stained Glass Window Project The refurbished windows on the front of the
church have been re-installed. The process took
approximately 5 hours to complete. We are
thankful to the skilled artists and craftsmen for
their dedication to preserving the glass and de-
sign. Their appreciation of the original artists’
work was heartwarming.
Thank you to everyone who supported this pro-
ject and special thanks to Ron Burch, Sue Sum-
merfield and Olive Taylor for their efforts on
installation day.
The near-100 year old sanctuary windows are
in need of the same process. As previously de-
cided, additional windows will follow as funds
provide.
Our hearts are filled with gratitude…
For all who supported the Bake Sale & Basket Raffle at Ruby & Quiri’s on July
9th. Many thanks to Ruby & Quiri for hosting the event, to those who baked goodies
and donated baskets, and to those who attended. Thanks to Jen Wilmot for organiz-
ing the event. It earned $300 toward the windows.
For all of the teachers, helpers and parents who made Vacation Bible School suc-
cessful, including our special speakers Donny Greco and Jerry Rose and our cookie
makers. Thanks for all of the children and youth who came to learn about Jesus.
For those who supported the big-item raffle and to Mike Sowle for organizing the
fundraiser. Winners were drawn on July 4th. It earned $2000.
For Edith Bowdish for photographing so many church events.
For Pastor Tom and Vice-President Arlene Macek for all of the nurturing support
of all of the projects, outreach and events undertaken by our congregation.
