Dates to Remember Dear parents, Congratulations to Sanna N, Christopher M and Shabad N. Whilst all of our students do well in their move to high school, these three students have been successful in gaining entry to the Riverstone HS ‘Pride’ group. The ‘Pride’ group consists of a class of about 20 students who will be the ‘gifted and talented’ group that will be extended to do their very best. Of special mention is Shabad, who not only gained placement in the class but has also been successful in gaining a scholarship to continue his studies. All three of these outstanding students are a tribute to their families, their teachers and most importantly, themselves. Their hard work has been rewarded in a very big way! 2019 Schools Spectacular

Last week, 18 members of the Glee Club represented GPS at the 2019 Schools Spectacular. The students travelled to QUDOS Bank Arena for rehearsals and performances. Glee Club spent the months leading up to the show attending rehearsals twice a week and learning 29 songs. When the students arrived at the arena, they were amazed to realise they were a part of a choir of 2800 students, and an overall cast of more than 5000 children from public schools from all over New South Wales. They spent the first day learning ‘Choral-ography’ and getting to know their conductor. Over the next few days, the students took part in a dress rehearsal and four performances. On Saturday evening, the arena had an audience of almost 10,000 people. Our students had a great time singing, dancing, meeting students from other schools, eating pizza, wearing costumes and using props. They represented GPS with outstanding behaviour and enthusiasm.

I would like to thank Miss Rontale, Miss Herbert, Miss Borg and Miss Leckie, who came along to assist, and all impressed us with their amazing dance moves! I would also like to thank the parents of the students involved for their support throughout the event.

The students and I are fortunate to have been a part of such an incredible event, and are already looking forward to next year!

Salvation army –

ChriStmaS hamper Drive

Here at Glendenning Public School, some of the students are working together to organise a Christmas Hamper Drive for the Salvation Army. As a school community we would like to work together and show our support for others in need. Why: To help people who are in need of essential items and to bring joy to families in need over the festive period. When: Monday Week 5 until Friday of Week 8. Students and families are invited to bring items to school every day and place these into their classroom collection boxes after 9am. How you can support: Every classroom is going to have a box where donations will be collected. Anytime from now until Friday of Week 8, non-perishable items will be collected. These items may include tinned food, packaged drinks, packaged foods, toiletries, nappies and baby items, household items and snack foods. All items that are able to be kept without refrigeration will be accepted and very much appreciated. The students leading this project will turn your generous donations into a number of hampers. The more donations we receive, the more hampers we will be able to put together for those in need. The hampers will be presented to a member of The Salvation Army during the Monday Morning Assembly on Monday, 16th December at 9am. All parents are welcome to attend.

We WoulD like to thank you in aDvanCe for

your Support anD generoSity.
