    Glimpse of Nepal

Kathmandu Valley:Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal, situated atheight of 1350 m above sea level with about 25 km from east to westand 20 km from north to south, is one of best place to visit to

experience Nepali art, architecture, sculpture, tradition, lifestyle,

culture and history. The valley, containing three major sister cities

Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur, is covered with surrounding of

mountains from 1500 m to 2500 m. With hundreds of temples and

shrines lie all over the places, it has 7 world heritage sites. Three

cities has beautiful durbar squares (royal palace), Changu Narayan

temple, Soyambhu Nath Stupa and Bouddha Nath Stupa are most

touristy area with fascinating shops and lovely handicrafts. Built

most of temple at 1600-1700 century, the Kathmandu valley is an example of religious mixture of religions mostly

Hinduism and Buddhism. Dominating the Newar people, the valley is decorated with handsomely proportioned brickhouses with tiled roofs and the rectangular courtyards and non stop festivals and Jatras. Being largest city and

arrival point of Nepal, it has a combination of historical and modern world as one can see the latest cars and

buildings with a typical agriculture field having bull carrying ploy with an half hour drive. Bending by two religious

and holy rivers, the valley is supposed to be submerged under water and rivers of valley drain through Chovar gorge

which later mixed with Ganges of India. Strong holding the caste system, the people are mostly Newar, Bahun,

Chhetri, Tamang etc With panoramic view of the series of mountain such as Langtang Himal,Ganesh,Gauri Shankar,

Everest, etc, the valley offers many long treks and short treks to hiking lovers.

Pokhara: Pokhara (2,640 ft), Nepals second biggest touristdestination and probably Nepals most beautiful and mystic location, has many legends in tandem with its unparalleled bounties of Nature.

Pokhara is called as the Lake District of Nepal because of its manypristine and azure lakes. The valley has three large lakes, two of themare Rupa and Begnas Tal, and the third and the largest, Phewa Tal, isthe focal point of Pokhara. Its fame rests on the natural beauty of itslakeside location and its proximity to the mountains. One mainattraction of Phewa Tal is the incredible snow-capped mountains thatare reflected in this sheltered lake.Pokhara is the starting point for some of the most famous treks in Nepal and there are also plenty of short walks and day tripsthat can be made around the valley. Viewed from Pokhara, the Himalayas is indeed a mighty mountain range looming overthe horizon much closer than it does in Kathmandu. Only foothills separate the town from the full height of the mountains, and the magnificent 26,400 ft peaks of the Annapurna Range utterly dominate vies to the north, the series of Annapurna,

Dhaulagiri, and virgin Fish Tail mountains are the most attractive peaks, found just ahead of ones head .Highlights:

    Detail of Sites:

    Soyambhu Nath

Soyambhu is also famous as Monkey temple as there weremany monkeys roving around the area and amuse the visitorswith their tricks. The history of the Valley, according to thelegends, begins with Swoyambhu, or the "the self-existent". Intimes uncharted by history, Bodhisattvas Manjusri came across a

beautiful lake during his travel. He saw a lotus that emittedbrilliant light at the lake's center, so he cut a gorge in asouthern hill and drained the waters to worship the lotus. Mensettled on the bed of the lake and called it the KathmanduValley. From then on, the hilltop of the self-existent Lord has

been a holy place. Soyambhu Nath Mandir, one of the oldestand best-preserved Newar pagodas in the valley. There is another Hindu Temple next to Soyambhu Nath which isalso worship is the goddess of disease and especially in the morning and evening the local children brought toworship goddess to free from any kind of disease

    Kathmandu Durbar Square

It is easy to be overwhelmed by the seemingly uncountablemonuments in the Kathmandu Durbar Square. The house of theLiving Goddess (Kumari Ghar), the ferocious Kal Bhairab, thered monkey god, and hundreds of erotic carvings are a fewexamples of the sights at the Square! The buildings here are thegreatest achievements of the Malla dynasty, and they resultedfrom the great rivalry between the three palaces of Kathmandu,Patan, and Bhaktapur. The Valley was divided among thechildren of Yaksya Malla. Kings copied everything theirneighbors built in an even grander style. A visitor who wandersaround the Square will see a round temple in the pagoda architectural style, the temple of Goddess Taleju (legend

has it that She played dice with King Jaya Prakash Malla), and an image of Shiva and Parbati sitting togetheramong the many monuments.

    Pashupati Nath Temple

Pashupati Nath is the holiest Hindu pilgrimage destination inNepal. There are linga images of Shiva along with statues, shrines, and temples dedicated to other deities in the complex. A templededicated to Shiva existed at this site in AD 879. However, the

present temple was built by King Bhupatindra Malla in 1697. Agold-plated roof, silver doors, and woodcarvings of the finestquality decorate the pagoda construction. Guheswari Temple, restored in AD 1653, represents the female "force". It is dedicatedto Satidevi, Shiva's first wife, who gave up her life in the flames ofher father's fire ritual.

    Bouddha Nath Stupa

Bouddha Nath is among the largest Stupa in South Asia, and ithas become the focal point of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. Thewhite mound looms thirty-six meters overhead. The Stupa islocated on the ancient trade route to Tibet, and Tibetan merchantsrested and offered prayers here for many centuries. When

refugees entered Nepal from Tibet in the 1950s, many of themdecided to live around Bouddha Nath. They established manygumba, and the "Little Tibet" of Nepal was born. This "Little Tibet" is still the best place in the Valley to observeTibetan lifestyle. Monks walk about in maroon robes. Tibetans walk with prayer wheels in their hands, and the

  • 7/27/2019 Glimpse of Nepal

    5/9

rituals of prostration are presented to the Buddha as worshippers circumambulate the Stupa on their hands andknees, bowing down to their lord.

    Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a conglomeration of pagoda andshikhara-style temples grouped around a fifty-five-window palaceof brick and wood. The square is one of the most charmingarchitectural showpieces of the Valley as it highlights the ancientarts of Nepal. The golden effigies of kings perched on the top of

stone monoliths, the guardian deities looking out from theirsanctuaries, the woodcarvings in every place-struts, lintels, uprights, tympanums, gateways and windows-all seem to form awell-orchestrated symphony.

    Patan Durbar Square

This whole square is a cluster of fine pagoda temples and stonestatues; it is at the same time the business hub of the city. At everystep one comes across a piece of art or an image of a deity, testifying to the consummate skill of Patan's anonymous artists. The ancient palace of the Malla kings and the stone baths

associated with various legends and episodes of history areespecially interesting to visitors. The stone temple of Lord Krishnaand the Royal Bath (Tushahity) with its intricate stone and bronzecarvings are two other masterpieces in the same vicinity.

    Nagarkot

Nagarkot the second highest point on the Valley lying above 2000 mnorth east from the Kathmandu City is a hill station popular for stunningviews of the Himalayas. Watching the sun rising above snow capedHimalayas and the very sunset in the behind the western high mountainsin the evening makes it more worth while to get up to the Nagarkot hill

top Unique hiking trails through Tamang villages, beautiful landscapesand good tourist facilities are additional features. The view extends allthe way from Dhaulagiri (8167m) in west past Mount Everest (8848 m)to Kanchanjunga (8537m) in the east.

    Mountain Flight (Everest Flight):

For those who are restricted by time toother considerations from goingtrekking, there are mountains that offer a

panoramic encounter with the highestpeaks on earth. The plane departs fromKathmandu and flies along side theHimalaya to give you eye level views of

the snow peaks and then brings youback in one hour. Crossing close to theawesome massifs of rocks and ice, theflight presents a mind boggling sight.

As the aircraft takes off, heads towardsthe east. You see Gosaithan (8,013m),also called Shisha Pangma, standing atthe majestic height of 8013M. Immediately to the right of Gosaithan, there appears Dorje Lhakpa (6966M), amountain that looks like the number 8 lying down and covered with snow. To the right of Dorje Lhakpa is PhurbiChyachu, which looms over the Kathmandu valley.

As the plane glides along, the mountains come closer and closer. Next on the vision is Choba-Bhamare, thesmallest one of the lot at 5,933M but singularly stubborn as it has never been climbed. Then appears the mountain, which is not only prominent in sight but also in spirituality Gauri-Shankar, Lord Shiva (Shankar) and his consortGauri are said to protect this mountain, at the proud height of 7,134M, and the summit had a history ofunsuccessful attempts till 1979. Gauri- Shankar is sharp and very conspicuous during the mountain flight. As the

plane moves towards the land of the rising sun, the eastern Himalaya, a succession of glorious mountains followMelungtse, a plateau- like mountain, stretches up to 7,023M. Chugimago at 6,297m is still a virgin, waiting to beclimbed at 6,956M.

Number Mountain resembles a breast, the maternal source in the sky providing pure milk to the Sherpas of the

Solukhumbu. Next is Karyolung, an intensely white mountain that at 6,511M, gleams with the rising sun. ChoOyu is the sixth highest mountain in the world. Reaching a height of 8201M, it appears stunningly beautiful fromthe aircraft.

Next on the menu is Gyachungkang, at a majestic height of 7,952m, considered an extremely difficult to climb. Tothe right of Gyachungkang is Pumori (7,161M). As one get closer to Everest, theres Nuptse (7,855), which meansWest Peak, Signifying its direction from Everest. Finally, theres Everest (8,850M) itself, known as sagarmatha bythe Nepalese and Chomolungma by the Tibetans. Much has already been written about Everest, but to actuallywitness it face to face during a mountain flight is something else. Even while it looms there in front of the eyes, itremains an enigma, this highest spot on earth.

Each guest will allow to Cockpit in the airplane to have better view of mountains and for the photographs.

Moreover, if the flight is cancelled due to bad weather or if one can not see anything during the flight, the price of

the ticket is refundable except the charge of transportation.

The net cost price of Mountain Flight is US $ 182.00 per person (Subjected to change)The cost of the transportation is US $ 08.00 per person airport pick up and drop

The total amount of the Mountain flight is US $ 190.00 per person (Current Market price).

Note: if the flight cancel, the flight charge will be refundable but not the transportation charge.
