InteroperabillityInteroperabillity

Allowing seamless job submission access to NorduGrid resources from Glite clients and vice versa.

Implies interoperability of info systems

Glite -> Nordugrid covered by EGEEII

ARC -> EGEEII covered by KnowARC

Glite -> ArcGlite -> Arc

Glite broker uses Condor-G to submit to LCG and Glite CEs, using GT2 and Condor-C respectively

Condor-G >=6.7.12 can submit to Arc

Idea: create a Glite info server with Arc info and then modify the broker to use Condor-G Arc submit.

Glite -> Arc StatusGlite -> Arc Status

Information System preliminary system (arc-bdii.cern.ch) works

needs full scale testing

Problem with resource matching, Glite CE-matcher uses Glite specific comments from the bdii.

WMS condor Development Glite-WMS system w. condor/Arc works

(for Glite jobs)

New Glite version incorporates usable condor

JobAdapter needs test (and recoding)

Arc -> Glite Gateways/DirectArc -> Glite Gateways/Direct

Direct: Integrating Nordugrid client and condor Pros:

• Direct submission to Glite CEs

Cons:• Bloat: NG Client ~ 10mb; Condor ~100mb

• Interface changes. (Glite update -> ARC update)

Gateways:

Pros:• Better scheduling

Cons• Scalability/price

Arc -> Glite CE interfaceArc -> Glite CE interface

Gateways/Direct not feasible

Solution: Open interface for job management on Glite CEs

Good news: CREAM a new CE type with a web service interface developed under EGEE

Bad news: Not supported by Glite production CEs, yet. But is installed on Glite testbeds.

Arc -> Glite WebservicesArc -> Glite Webservices

CREAM interface:Pros:

• Direct submission to EGEE controlled CEs• Scalability• Composability• Portability – easy to build NG clients for

windows and Mac

Cons:• Performance – Binary XML might help, but no

standard yet.

Arc/Glite new solutionArc/Glite new solution

Integrating a CREAM compatible Web Service layer in Arc, both client and server.

Server CREAM layer can work independently of the Grid Manager

Pros: • Gives interoperability through open interfaces.

• As well as a WS interface for Arc. (Task 1.2)

• Windows/Mac Arc client can use WS interface for easy porting.
