The Ventura Habitat technology revolutionises the blade repair process by extending the maintenance season across both onshore and offshore environments.
The patented Ventura Habitat provides a controlled environment that allows technician access for wind turbine blade maintenance, whilst also protecting people and equipment from the elements.
The system provides an environment around the blade to be optimised in temperature, humidity, and facilitates repair activity, saving hundreds of lost maintenance hours.
Operates across all onshore environments
Allows repair work in challenging weather/light conditions, extending the working season
Reduces turbine downtime and annual energy production loss
System lighting provides a 24 hour working environment
Can be deployed along the full blade length for the majority of blade types and repair tasks

Refuted catastrophic blade failure claim
Case study
Catastrophic blade failure not caused by lightning
A blade collapse was detected on one blade, the damage occurred
during high winds and a lightning strike was detected on the blade. The
original claim identified the lightning as the cause of the blade collapse
in root. However, a case study revealed that poor adhesion between
web and shell caused the blade to collapse. This identification saved
the insurance company EUR 1 million in expected loss.

Solution
Conflicting failure mode assumptions causing delay in claim processing, responsible party

GEV Wind Power opened a Leading Edge
Protection training facility at the beginning
of 2021 and have successfully prepared
our skilled technicians for projects
throughout the course of the year.
”
“ A fantastic refresher course & great instructors with lots of knowledge.
No improvements are needed. Everything, including the instructions, exceeded my expectations!
I haven’t done anything related to LEP in 6 months, so the Training Academy is ideal. It helps refresh the memory and it means that I will be prepared for when I’m in the field.
This will improve every technician across the board. As soon as they get to the projects they can hit the ground running. They will have everything that they need and know how to use it. Therefore productivity will be improved.
They have all the equipment needed for the job. Brilliant instructors with loads of knowledge about the process.

“ We are provided with more precise blade defect assessment material prior to the repair season, handed over to us through great customer service in a way where we were directed to relevant blade issues to prioritise. This enables us to challenge and alter our planned blade repair scope and organise our maintenance and repair execution much more effectively.
WPL deliver 2nd opinion on our inspection data. WPL has deep blade knowledge and creates high value for our maintenance by helping us identify active blade risks, avoid expensive repairs and costly down-time on our turbines."on schedule.
Wind Power LAB has a great technical expertise and a very good sense of
customer service. They are very flexible and could always meet our business
and operative requirements, to deliver detailed and comprehensive
maintenance strategy, repair recommendations, and participate into reducing
our turbine downtime and operational costs.
Thanks very much for the willingness to work with us. To be honest this type of partnership through a difficult, complex and dynamic jobwill certainly keep our company in the running for future projects.
The service has been completed to our full satisfaction. It is highly
recommended to other wind farm investors all around the world.
Analysing the history of all inspection data and repair campaigns at PAWP, Wind
Power LAB was able to create a very detailed defect development trend analysis
that was built into the Blade Maintenance Strategy. This service provides us with a
full overview of assumed events and expected blade repair scope of the windfarm.
