Dear Participant,

It was our privilege to have you at FCRI during the flotek.g. We are very thankful to you for accepting our invitation, lending much needed support, and gracing us with your presence here.

Director’s Reflections

FCRI Global Conference continues to provide a relevant and dynamic forum for the exchange of information for the experienced Industry personnel as well as for the newcomers to the world of flow measurement and control techniques.

This conference included excellent technical presentations with useful ideas that the delegates can take back to their jobs. Paper presentation and discussions of participants were strongly encouraged to share information on their own Industry's experiences and lessons learned. In fact, feedback from delegates showed that this type of presentation is exactly what draws them back to FCRI Conferences every 3 years.

More than 45 companies exhibited their products in this year's Exhibition. During the breaks in the busy conference programmes, delegates visited the adjacent exhibition stalls to network with representatives from flow product manufacturers.

We hope that the conference was a useful forum for you to exchange your thoughts among experts on the

recent developments in flow measurement and control. Delegates from Industries and Academic

Institutions were more than happy that their time and budgets were being well spent”

“The ability to embed or otherwise utilize a significant amount of computing power within flow measurement system, together with the high level of system integration offered by high speed digital communication system and interoperable protocols and standards, opens up the possibility of developing a wide range of intelligent flow measurement systems. The conference is aptly themed and the papers will provide examples across a range of metering technologies.”

“The conference is timely programmed and aptly themed to highlight various measurement techniques in flow related industries practiced in the world. It is a common platform to discuss the related issues in order to consolidate the outputs of R&D and end users. The conference also provides insight into the present and future trends in flow product & Instrumentation Industry and the advances being made in the technology.”

Inaugural Address byDr. R C Panda, Secretary DHI, Govt. Of India

Felicitation by Dr Mike Sanderson, Professor, Cranfield University UK

“Flow measurement and control is often a vital aspect of the process in core industries. If the National objectives of higher productivity and efficiency along with optimal utilization of resources are to be met, the management, measurement and control of crucial processes in these industries must be focused at the National Level.

We are today a National Centre for Excellence, one of its kind as a stand alone Institute in the Country. We are confident that the deliberations over the three days will be a definite step in development of knowledge in the realm of Flow Technology”. Address by

Dr Surajit MitraChairman, Governing Council (FCRI) & Jt. Secretary (DHI)

future this kind of conferences are held on specific issues relating to technology.

I am also very happy that this institute has become a leading centre not only in India but also in the whole of South Asia. They have accreditation both from leading national and international organizations. I gather that few of their facilities like large water flow lab are unique and one of its kind in the world. I am also happy to learn that during the eleventh five year plan they will be establishing many state-of-the-art facilities, which will help them to be better prepared to serve our key industries including Oil & Gas, power sectors. I am very impressed the way this institute has evolved from over the last Twenty years from a UNDP program to a “Centre of Excellence” under the guidance of my Ministry.

Ladies and Gentlemen, our Country has one of the largest pool of Engineers, Doctors, Scientists, IT Professionals in the World. Some of our Academic Institutions are considered to be amongst the very best in the world. This is our strength. We must utilize this strength to support our Industry. We are on a high growth path. Our GDP is growing over 9% per annum. Our Industry is achieving double digit growth in the recent times. We must maintain this growth momentum.

Let me conclude by saying, I am happy to see this vibrant Institution. Thanks to the effective leadership provided by the Chairman and the Director. The entire campus has come up very nicely. Thanks to Govt. of Kerala for the land and support.”

Thank you & see you again at

Reminiscences of

flotek.g 2010

FCRI, Established by Govt. of India with UNDP assistance, primarily started as a flow measurement lab, is now a world wide acclaimed Research Centre and is the nucleus of all Industries engaged in Flow Engineering. The Institute focuses on providing state-of-the-art infrastructure and professionally managed services to attract global and local enterprises in Flow measurement and research to Palghat.

Flotek.g 2007 was envisaged as a top-drawer platform for companies operating in the areas of Flow controls, measurements, research and development, etc. It provided a window, comparable to best in the world, a perfect environment for show casing their products, interact with fellow participants from all around the globe and expand their business.

The three days Seminar Flotek.g 2007, a third in its series conducted by FCRI was inaugurated by Mr. R.C. Panda, Secretary, DHI, Govt. of India by lighting the conventional lamp on 26.09.2007 at 10.00 am. Eminent technocrats and entrepreneurs from all over the world assembled under one roof to witness the grand inaugural proceedings.

Industry captains and journalists assembled in the newly built hi-tech convention centre were numbed into silence when FCRI's Director Commodore S. Saseendran in his welcome speech emphasized thrust areas in FCRI's 'Look East' policy and its facilities for Research and Testing in Flow Engineering.

The programs that followed clock-work precision saw a record number of Research Paper Presentations. Flotek.g 2007 also set records in terms of number of nations participated, number of organizations and also number of delegates. An overwhelming response to this event this year with more than 300 delegates and 20 participating nations, is an all time record in this class of seminars. “It is a tribute to FCRI and the values it stands for”, remarked the Director in his welcome speech

That evening was marked with various entertainment programs with FCRI drenched in glittering light rays emanating from a galaxy of Electric bulbs of all hues, giving a spectacular sight to match the ambience. Series of scintillating performances from experienced artists of Kathakali troupe and sparkling performance of popular Malayalam playback singer Jyotsana, took the audience to echelons of solitary bliss.

Presentation of Technical papers and symposiums continued for the second and third days in succession. The Conference Hall became the embodiment of Technical Excellence. Limitless selection of premium Flow Tech products in 46 stalls with its designers, project managers and a full range of professional staff were extending full support to visitors with business interests. Imagine having one source for all your needs in Flow Engineering - from concept and creation to installation and management. A unique trade show supported with process technology, extensive knowledge resources, and comprehensive services all available at one spot. There is a lot more to creating a successful event than putting up a great exhibit. You need an effective strategy, excellent execution and proper measurement of results.

A special thanks to all participating nations, delegates and Exhibitors. The curtain fell on the third day of this mega event at 4.00 pm on 28th with the valedictory address by Minister for Heavy Industries, Govt. of India, Shri. Sontosh Mohan Dev.
