I am delighted that Luxembourg is hosting the third edition of the GlobalRussia Business Meeting. Following the very successful Horasis Meeting onChina in 2010, it is with great anticipation that I look forward to welcomingthe distinguished participants from the global business community here inLuxembourg under the theme “Globalizing Russian Firms”.

In the wake of the Russian presidential elections, the Global Russia BusinessMeeting presents an excellent opportunity for international business leadersto discuss Russia’s ever more important role as a driving force of the worldeconomy. A large number of global leaders from the spheres of politics andbusiness will meet in the City of Luxembourg during three days to engage in open and hopefully very fruitful discussions about the opportunities andchallenges of the global business community and the ever-growing role thatRussia plays on the world stage.Together we will look at the global outlookfor 2012 but also more distinctively at the Russian economy in terms of growthstrategies, innovation, technology, natural resources, entrepreneurship,social responsibility and the environment.

In recent years, economic ties have been strengthening between Russia andLuxembourg which is a direct result of ongoing joint efforts to nourish thedevelopment of economic and financial relations.
