GLOBALLY SPEAKING BEGINNER TURKISH CLASS Esra Özdemir Class Days: Tuesday esraoz@bu.edu Class Time: 05:00 06:30 pm Class Location: CAS 325 COURSE DESCRIPTION: This elementary Turkish course is designed for students who have no prior knowledge of Turkish. It introduces students to some of the beginner level structures of Turkish through communicative classes with a special focus on speaking. Students will also learn about cultures in Turkey. COURSE OBJECTIVES: The objective of this course is to help Develop some very basic communication skills; Gain some knowledge of customs and manners, some cities, shopping conventions Learn about what it is like to live in Turkey Learn some very basic elementary level nouns, adjectives, plurals, one tense (present progressive tense), copulative sentences, and pronouns Demonstrate some knowledge of simple language to describe oneself, to talk about one’s hobbies and interests very simply to talk about food, leisure activities, weather and seasons to make very simple requests. JANUARY 27 Introduction- Tanışalım Greetings and farewell (Selamlaşma ve ayrılma) Introduction to Turkish with the alphabet, sounds, numbers, and plural and singular nouns Cultural point: How do Turkish people greet each other?
