5 Regulatory Information
5.1 Compliance List UL CE FCC part 15 B R&TTE (EN60950)
5.2 FCC WarningThis equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment.This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the documentation provided with it, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause radio interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at his or her own expense.
However, there is no warrantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. 7 Warranty InformationGlobeTel Communications, Corp. warrants to You that, for a period of (1) one year (the “Warranty Period”), your GlobeTel Product will be substantially free of defects in materials and workman under normal use. Your exclusive remedy and GlobeTel’s entire liability under this warranty will be for GlobeTel at its option to repair or replace the Product or refund Your purchase price less any rebates or taxes applied. This limited warranty extends only to the original purchaser.
If the Product proves defective during the Warranty Period call GlobeTel Technical Support in order to obtain a Return Authorization Number, if applicable. Please note that warranty or returns cannot be processed without proof of purchase; therefore be sure to have it in hand when contacting GlobeTel.If you are requested to return the Product, mark the Return Authorization Number clearly on the outside of the package and include a copy of your proof of purchase.You are responsible for shipping defective products to GlobeTel. GlobeTel pays for ground shipping from GlobeTel back to You only. Customers outside of the United States of America and Canada are responsible for all shipping and handling charges.
All implied warranties and conditions of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose are limited to the duration of the Warranty Period. All other express or implied conditions, representations and warranties, including any implied lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to You. This Warranty gives You specific legal rights, and You may also have other rights which vary from jurisdiction.

8 Introduction
8.1 WelcomeThank you for choosing the IAD-200X Phone Adapter, a member of the GlobeTelX™ family of VoIP products and services. This adapter will allow you to make/receive phone calls using your broadband connection, while providing routing or bridge functionality to your local area network.
Use the instructions in the Quick Installation Guide or this User Guide to help you connect the IAD-200X after setting up an account with your Internet phone service provider. These instructions should be all you need to get the most out of the IAD-200X.
Note: For information about your Internet phone service, please refer to the materials provided by your Internet phone service provider.

8.3.1 Front
LED DescriptionPWR The Power LED lights up when the IAD-200X is powered on and ready. It flashes when the IAD-200X is
booting up or undergoing a self testSYS The System LED is OFF when both lines fail to register to the VoIP service provider or when the WAN
interface is down. The System LED lights up when one or both lines have registered with your VoIP service provider or when it is ready to place calls when registration is not required. Line that fails to register will not get a dial tone. The System LED flashes when the IAD-200X assigns IP address to the WAN interface.
WAN The WAN LED lights up when the IAD-200X is connected to your WAN network, usually your ADSL or cable modem. It flashes when there is data being sent or received through the WAN port
LAN The LAN LED lights up when the IAD-200X is connected to your LAN network, usually your local network or computer. It flashes when there is data being sent or received through the LAN port
Phone 1 The Phone 1 LED is solidly lit when the phone is on call and flashes when incoming call has been detectedPhone 2 The Phone 2 LED is solidly lit when the phone is on call and flashes when incoming call has been detected

8.4 Configuring the UnitThere are two main ways to configure your IAD-200X, Automatic configuration Manual configuration
8.4.1 Automatic configurationThe IAX-200X will look for the Upgrade Server of your VoIP service provider over the Internet and get from it all necessary information. No intervention of the end user should be required.
8.4.2 Manual configurationUsing the embedded configuration web-based utility, it is possible to manually configure the IAD-200X.

9 GlobeTelX™ Web-based utilityThe IAD-200X has an embedded web-based utility application which is part of GlobeTelX™ family and allows configuring, administrating, debugging and managing the IAD-200X. Please note that under certain commercial services, the web-application could be not accessible to the end-user.
Navigation tree is mode dependent based on password. There are two modes, User mode, partial administration and configuration rights. The User default password is "admin" Root mode, full administration and configuration rights. The VoIP service provider typically
controls the Root password. If the unit is not related to a particular service provider then the default Root password would be "root".
At this point in time, navigation was successfully tested with Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 6.0 Mozilla FireFox version 1.0.7
Navigation on the web-based utility can be done either through the LAN or WAN Ethernet ports of the IAD-200X. In order to access the IAD web configuration via the LAN port configure your PC LAN interface to use dynamic address (DHCP). The IAD-200X will assign IP address and gateway address to your PC. The IAD-200X LAN default address is 192.168.122.1. Use this address in your Internet explorer to access the web configuration pages. Please note that access and configuration could be password-protected.
9.1 SecuritySecurity is provided via password and timer for inactivity.
On first login accessing the web-based utility, a password must be entered to have access to the system. Additional security is provided through an inactivity-timer, in a way that if inactivity is detected after 3 or more minutes, the session will be terminated and it will be necessary to re-log again.
If
requested, password must be entered to authenticate and validate the access to the IAD-200X. Please note that password is case sensitive.

9.4 Reset OptionsThere are two options for resetting the device, Software Reset Hardware Reset
9.4.1 Software ResetPlease bear in mind that resetting the system will terminate all network connections and reset your browser connection.
Two software-reset alternatives are available, Reset and execute Main Application Reset and execute Downloader Application
Reset and Execute Main Application updates any values or parameter changed on previous menus and uses them after reboot.
Reset and Execute Downloader Application is used to set the unit in download mode before doing firmware upgrade.
9.4.2 Hardware ResetTo increase security, the design of the IAD-200X was made in a way that the reset button, which is located on the back of the IAD-200X, has to be used in conjunction with the power connector.
Pressing the reset button for up to two (2) seconds while powering up the IAD-200X will switch the unit to download mode to allow firmware upgrade. The unit configuration remains unchanged.
Pressing the reset button for four (4) or more seconds while powering up the IAD-200X will set the unit to default factory parameters. The LAN port will default to IP address 192.168.122.1 with mask 255.255.255.0.

10 Configuration Examples
10.1Typical Configuration Operation Mode - should be "SERVER" mode Server address - Asterisk server IP address Server port - 4569, this is the default for Asterisk™ (or any other IAX port that the server was
programmed to use) Local Port - This is the local port that the unit will use. If left blank, the unit will use 4569 by
default Domain Name - not used for SERVER mode. Should be left blank Check the "send Registration" box to instruct the unit to send registration requests. If the expire
time is left blank, the unit will send registration every 20 seconds until instructed differently by the Asterisk™ server. The SYS light will turn ON if registration is successful.
If the registration box is unchecked the unit will still be able to place calls but not to receive calls. The SYS light will be constantly ON to indicate normal operation but the IAX STATUS (under IAX page) will indicate "No Registration".
Context – the CONTEXT that you would like the calls to be associated with. It should have the same CONTEXT defined in the iax.conf file. If left blank, "default" context will be used.
Language – specify the language that you would like your asterisk to use for voice prompts. Default is "en".
Dial plan – the basic configuration should be x.T|x.# which means that the unit allows to dial any number at any length. The dialed number is sent to the server if no digit was pressed for the last 4 seconds (T) or if # was pressed. For more information see Annex I
IAX line parameters:o Phone number – this is the line extension number as defined in the extensions.conf file
(see example below)o Caller ID name – the caller ID that you would like to display on the called party phone
display.o User Name – this is optional and used for authorizing incoming calls. If left blank all
incoming calls will be granted. If value is specified then the unit will validate that the incoming call has the same User Name value. On the contrary, the unit will reject the call.
o User – this is the user account and used for registration authorization and for outgoing calls authentication (see example below).
o Password (secret) – used in conjunction with "User" parameter for registration and outgoing calls authentication. The unit uses plain text or MD5 encryption for authentication.

10.2CODECS SettingsIt is recommended to use one of the codecs that consume less bandwidth like G.723 or G.729.
G.729, G.726 and G.723 can be set to silence suppression ON or OFF. Silence suppression ON will further reduce bandwidth utilization.G.711u and G.711a are only available with silence suppression OFF.Check the codec box that you want to use. The unit will use the checked codec but also will allow G.711 if asked by the Asterisk™ server during call setup.
In order to use the G.729, and G.723 on your Asterisk™ you'll need to acquire license. If your Asterisk™ server doesn't have license installed you can still use these codecs when calling from one box to another. The Asterisk™ server will simply do pass-thru.Make sure that you have all these codecs "allowed" in the iax.conf file

Asterisk™ responds with the codec of its choice and the IAX box adopts this codec for the audio transmission
On the receiving side the asterisk tells the IAX box what codec to use. If this codec doesn't match the unit codec capabilities the call will be rejected.

13 Annex I - Dial Plans.
A dial plan gives the unit a map to determine when a complete number has been entered and should be passed on to the Asterisk server. Dial plans are expressed using the same syntax as used by MGCP NCS specification.
The formal syntax of the dial plan is described in the following notation:

A dial plan, according to this syntax, is defined either by a (case insensitive) string or by a list of strings. Regardless of the above syntax, a timer is only allowed if it appears in the last position in a string (12T3 is not valid). Each string is an alternate numbering scheme. The unit will process the dial plan by comparing the current dial string against the dial plan. If the result is under-qualified (partial matches at least one entry), then it will do nothing further. If the result matches or is over-qualified (no further digits could possibly produce a match), then it sends the string to the gatekeeper and clear the dial string. The Timer T is activated when it has all that is required to produce a match. The period of timer T is 4 seconds. For example, a dial plan of (xxxT|xxxxx) will match immediately if 5 digits are entered. It will also match after a 4 second pause when 3 digits are entered.
The following are examples of Dial Plans. Simple Dial Plan
Allows the dialing of 7 digit numbers (e.g. 5551234) or an operator on 0. Dial plan is (0T|xxxxxxx)
Non-dialed Line Dial PlanAs soon as the handset is lifted, the unit contacts the gatekeeper (used for systems where dtmf detection is done in-call). Dial plan is (x.) i.e. match against 0 (or more) digits. Note: the dot ‘.’
Complex Dial PlanLocal operator on 0, long distance operator on 00, four digit local extension number starting with 3,4 or 5, seven digit local numbers are prefixed by an 8, two digit star services (e.g. 69), ten digit long distance prefixed by 91, and international numbers starting with 9011+variable number of digits.The dial plan for this is:(0T|00T|[3-5]xxx|8xxxxxxx|*xx|91xxxxxxxxxx|9011x.T)
