Tokyo is one of the finance centers of the international business scene, due to Japan having one of the strongest economies among world nations. The capital has experienced rapid growth in terms of economy and population immediately after the last world war. Today, Tokyo is listed as one of the top three economic cores of the world, alongside New York and London.

Tokyo started as a sleepy village named Edo, which means “estuary.” After several centuries, it was made capital of Japan and seat of government. The city is one of the major cultural hubs of Japan as well as the home of the nation’s most prestigious universities.

The majority of the people residing outside Tokyo works on the metropolis, and contributes to population rise of about two million during work hours.
