GMO Testing in Raw Materials What is a Genetically Modified Organism? A GMO is any organism whose genome has been altered by the techniques of genetic engineering so that its DNA contains one or more genes not normally found there. Why is GMO testing important? GMO labeling requirements are now necessary for food products and ingredients in 64 countries. Some States in the US are voting on GMO labeling requirements. Testing will validate the integrity of your product and ensure compliance with the GMO labeling guidelines. Where is GMO labeling required? GMO labeling is now required in 64 countries including the European Union, China, Australia, Japan and parts of South America.

How is GMO detected? Lateral Flow- Uses a simple and relatively inaccurate method of protein detection Real Time PCR- The most common method, offering good accuracy but less precision ddPCR- Droplet Digital PCR, innovative and sensitive
