“The question of reaching sustainability is not about

if we will have enough energy,

enough food, or other tangible resources… The question is: will there

be enough leaders in time?”

– Dr. Karl-Henrik Robèrt, founder of The Natural Step and keynote speaker at this

year’s GMIC Sustainable Meetings Conference

accordingly to reduce food waste and cost.

4. Develop an energy management program to reduce

consumption of electricity on-site.

5. Use the web and e-mail to promote the event – offer electronic

registration and provide event welcome kits online.

6. Provide guests with information about the local public transit

system, and/or arrange for fuel-efficient shuttles to transport

attendees to and from the airport and the event venue.

in the area’s natural environment with minimal impact.

8. Purchase food and beverages in bulk to minimize packaging.

GO! ANDTHE COCA-COLA

COMPANYWe began our ongoing relationship

with Coca-Cola over 10 years ago.

Dozens of eco-friendly meetings and

events later, we look back on the

Environmental Sustainability Summit as

a green project standout.

Page 5: GO! Green Magazine

Coca-Cola hosted its first Global Retailing Research

Council Forum in Beijing during the 2008 Olympics

and tapped GO! to re-brand the council’s brand

identity. We designed and developed event collateral,

video programming, graphics and production

support for a five day summit on environmental

sustainability.

The meeting environment reflected the green

objectives of the forum and provided a creative and

efficient workspace for the 150+ global retailers

by easily converting from plenary to workshop

space throughout the course of the event. Using

recyclable and reusable materials was a must – from

the cardboard box and reclaimed bamboo walls, to

the use of postconsumer recycled fiber in all print

materials, to the integration of plants and greenery...

every element was environmentally sustainable to

reflect the key messaging of the council.

The event featured a host of environmental

specialists, including Nobel Peace Prize winner

Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri, who worked with the

participants to discuss retail industry standards

around carbon reduction, zero waste and sustainable

agriculture.

Page 6: GO! Green Magazine

10 11

As part of its green activation for the Beijing Olympic

Games, Coca-Cola engaged GO! to design an

installation focused on the company’s sustainability

initiatives. Large format print, video stations,

interactive kiosks and dimensional display areas

provided in-depth information on the company’s

progress on water stewardship, sustainable

packaging and recycling, climate and energy

protection, as well as sustainable product

development and community programs. GO!

incorporated eco-friendly materials for fabrication,

including RPET counters and decorative finishes.

Underscoring Coca-Cola’s strong environmental and

corporate responsibility commitments, the exhibit

was prominently placed in Coca-Cola’s hospitality

zone and was a central gathering place for guests.
