Our motivation for going paperless came after we saw our first year PARCC results.
We knew we needed to start assessing students digitally so they were comfortable when PARCC test time came.
![Page 24: Go Paperless with Digital Assessment](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022020314/58b87b191a28ab44078b4b9f/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
Pros:
● Paperless. ● Easy to grade (Flubaroo)
Cons:
● Question types very limited.● Needed to use add- ons in
order to “print” a copy for students to review (Autocrat)
Since we were a Google school, our first attempts were Google Forms.
![Page 25: Go Paperless with Digital Assessment](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022020314/58b87b191a28ab44078b4b9f/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
A Google Search led us to EdulasticPros:
● Many question types that mimicked PARCC
● Easy sync with Google Classroom
● Instant results to students and teachers
● No need to “print” a copy for review
● Sharing across the district meant we could split the workload of test creation.
● Reports make it easy to identify areas of weakness.
● Helpful customer service
Cons:● Still haven’t found one
![Page 26: Go Paperless with Digital Assessment](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022020314/58b87b191a28ab44078b4b9f/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
The Plan We Devised- Use PARCC released questions entered into Edulastic to prep students.
Use Edulastic across our curriculum for paperless tests so students were comfortable with online testing
Have students instantly review what they did right and wrong not days later after the test was graded. Their reflection immediately following the test led them to be better test takers because they really reviewed the test.

The Results -

Typical evening or weekend for me before Edulastic On top of this,
- teacher plans for the next lesson- creates materials- creates assessments which means
more papers to grade.
….. and it goes on and on and papers keep piling up.
…. and sometimes papers mysteriously disappears to the disappointment of both teacher and students.
…. and teacher realizes that some students need intervention only after all papers have been graded.
![Page 32: Go Paperless with Digital Assessment](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022020314/58b87b191a28ab44078b4b9f/html5/thumbnails/32.jpg)
Here comes Edulastic!
All assessments are in one place, never to get lost.
![Page 33: Go Paperless with Digital Assessment](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022020314/58b87b191a28ab44078b4b9f/html5/thumbnails/33.jpg)
When I give assignments, I get to see their progress in real time. I can see who starts immediately and who procrastinates whether it is an in-class or take home assignment
![Page 34: Go Paperless with Digital Assessment](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022020314/58b87b191a28ab44078b4b9f/html5/thumbnails/34.jpg)
I can screenshot their summary thumbnail and send it to them to prompt them to go back and check these partially correct work or the totally incorrect answers. I find that my students constantly want to know how they are doing and I would not be able to give immediate feedback if I was grading by hand.
![Page 35: Go Paperless with Digital Assessment](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022020314/58b87b191a28ab44078b4b9f/html5/thumbnails/35.jpg)
Students stay on task and are eager to get immediate feedback.
![Page 36: Go Paperless with Digital Assessment](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022020314/58b87b191a28ab44078b4b9f/html5/thumbnails/36.jpg)
Students collaborate during classwork. They are asking questions and they are explaining to each other.
As students do their work I go around with my tablet and show them which problems they need to return to, providing them immediate intervention.
![Page 37: Go Paperless with Digital Assessment](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022020314/58b87b191a28ab44078b4b9f/html5/thumbnails/37.jpg)
I allow students to redo their work if for whatever reason they scored low on their
assignments.
Edulastic makes it easy to reassign the tasks giving students second chances.

Working with Edulastic in
a Middle School Reading
Classroom
Why I use Edulastic:
1. Immediate Feedback - The ability to adjust instruction.2. Student Progress - Students are able to track their scores
on a data tracker3. Data Reports - We have to present data from Common
Assessments to the principal and Edulast offers a great way to present the data.
4. Standards Mastery - I can keep up with what standards have been mastered and which ones I need to re-teach.
5. District Testing - Our district uses MAP to track student progress and it is computer based.
