One really smart person said
once that acquiring knowledge
is like scaling the mountain.
The proper attitude in reaching
the summit, however, is to mar-
vel not so much at one’s
achievements, as at the glorious
view of the unknown beyond.
Really, this statement reverber-
ates with everything that you
know or wish to comprehend.
Educating oneself is the life-
blood of development. Thus,
this issue of GoTrinity was apt-
ly devoted to the topic of learn-
ing. As, the moment we cease to
grow, is the moment we begin
to die!

1.Find something interesting to
read and listen to, then practice speak-
ing and writing about it.
Listen to Podcasts, recorded lectures
– check the website of your favorite lan-
guage school. Go to news websites such
as CNN.com, BBC.com. Read up on
your favorite subjects on popular web-
sites such as wikipedia.org. Tell a friend
or family member about what you
learned.
2.Work with a speaking partner or try an online video chat! The
more opportunity you have to speak the language, the more familiar you
will become.
3.Take on the role of a great journalist: Take good notes and use
them to make summaries.
4.Make vocabulary flash cards and pretend you are a contestant on
a vocabulary quiz show. Carry the flash cards with you often. They are a
great way to make a bus ride go by quickly.
5.Visit TOEFL-TV on YouTube. www.youtube.com/TOEFLtv for
great resources and tips from English language instructors and students that
have taken the TOEFL test.
6. Reading Tips. Practice summarizing and paraphrasing texts. Use
charts and outlines to organize the ideas in a text. Practice speed reading
techniques. Practice reading (and answering questions) on a computer
screen. Expand your vocabulary with daily-use vocabulary cards
7. Writing Tips. Find a writing buddy who can give you feedback.
Read an article and find listening material on the same topic. Write a sum-
mary of each. Explain the ways they are similar and the ways they are dif-
ferent
8. Practice, practice and practice!
Are you a cultural

How to Identify Scholarship Scams ! Tips from Scholarship-positions.com

NewsNews FeedsFeeds:
2. Guaranteed Scholarship Award: Scams that guarantee an award. Now
this trap can be tempting to an aspiring student. Nobody can guarantee a schol-
arship. If you are worthy and your concerns are true you will certainly get it.
Don't get into the trap called 'Scholarship guarantee'. No such thing exists.
3. You "Win" a Scholarship that You Never Applied: Scholarships
scams will contact college students informing them that they have won full
college scholarship. You cannot win a scholarship if you have never for ap-
plied for it.
4. Free Scholarship Scams: Nothing in life comes easily. There is no such
thing like Free Scholarship. Scholarship is generally given to students with
high quality academic record.
5. Request for Personal Information: Some scams ask for your personal
details, such as bank statement, date of
birth, passwords, account numbers, social
security number etc.
Never share your personal information
with anyone online. Your identity might
get cloned.
1. Application Fee:
Scholarship scams are used by or-
ganizations that charge fees for veiling
procedures or application submissions
that can be undertaken free of cost.
Never pay for scholarship application
fees.

TOEFL - 120? Are you kidding me?
October 2011 The official newsletter of Business School of English “Trinity “
Go
Recent research has given
an insight into the
way native speakers
cope with a rather
challenging exam
TOEFL iBT. Many
people maintain the
view that they
would easily get 120 points on this test. However, things turned out to be
different from the expected.
Given that TOEFL aims at the graduates of high school or colleg-
es, the candidates had to be at the age of 17-18. The main requirement of
the trial was a high-score transcript from school and lack of knowledge
about TOEFL. The tested subjects were not even familiar with the sections
of the exam
The average points of Native Speakers were 105. Like many stu-
dents undergoing TOEFL, they experienced troubles with two sections:
Writing (25) and Speaking (26). It should be noted that 26 is an excellent
result for an international student, but a very poor grade for a Native
Speaker. Naturally, points 27 and above are not merely connected with an
ability to express your thoughts in English. What is needed is the ability to
convey your ideas clearly and in a structured way which is not always the
case with college graduates.
The highest score of tone of he Native Speakers comprises 28 in
Reading. Nevertheless, he admitted that he got very tired and it influenced
the outcome of the exam.
In his testimony he confessed that at least some awareness of the
exam would have helped to cope more efficiently.
Another American student who previously attained 95% of the
summary grade in his class, received only 105 points in TOEFL.
This can serve as a vital message to the candidates planning to take
TOEFL. If even a Native Speaker can't get the highest score without a
thorough preparation, then you have to leave no stones
unturned in your aim to get more than 100!
The sky is the limit!
Exam InnovationExam Innovation
From 1 November 2011,
all candidates taking Cam-
bridge English: Advanced
(CAE) will have their photo
taken on the day of the exam.
This further increases the se-
curity of the test and will help
organizations such as univer-
sities, employers and immi-
gration authorities to confirm
results quickly and easily.
The photo will be taken on
either the day of the Speaking
test or the day of the written
test and will be taken quickly
before the candidates start the
exam.
As part of the registration
process, candidates will be
asked to sign a document giv-
ing their permission for their
photo to be taken, and in the
case of younger candidates,
their parents or legal guardian
will need to sign this docu-
ment.
Cambridge ESOL takes
the storage of personal data
very seriously. The photo will
only be visible on the secure
Results Verification site and
candidates choose who can
see their photo and results in-
formation.

Remember – intrigue is a spice that keeps other people interested in you;
Always have a rest before you get tired too much;
Talking on the phone with someone never ex-
plains the reason why you are late. Just say –
«Hi! I am late! I will be in 15 mins»;
If you want your business partner not to be late
for the meeting – simply arrange this meeting a
quarter before definite hour. For instance: Never say — ―Let’s meet
at 7 p.m.»! Say— «Let’s meet a quarter before seven.» Believe me
it works subconsciously.
Distinguish important things and urgent things and clearly understand the
difference between them. The urgent things always go first.
And the last advice and the most important one – little thing mustn’t pre-
vail over great aims.
Do you know that…?

To be honest, writing this article was
a real challenge for me. I knew how im-
portant it is for our editor-in-chief, but I
really didn’t have any possibility to work
with materials about Adele and to give
you the full information about this great
singer. That’s why, I promise you to
write the second part about her in our
next issue. Thank you for understanding.
So, let me start the first part about
Adele.
Firstly, that would be great to highlight that Adele won two nomina-
tions from three in MTV VMA with her Top-Chart video ―Rolling in the
Deep‖. I have to admit she left behind such rival (by the way, my favorite
band) as 30 Seconds to Mars with their scandalous ―Hurricane‖ video.
That’s a breakthrough, for sure. Adele says her inspiration was Amy
Winehouse: ―Amy was the one who made me sure that the English music
is perfect and it’s listened in the whole world‖. So do we have to thank
Amy Winehouse for A Brand New Name in the soul-music?..
Adele (real name: Adele Adkins) was born in the North London,
Lyrics
Set Fire to the Rain
I set fire to the rain
And I threw us into the
flames
Where I felt something '
die, 'cause I knew that
That was the last time, the
last time
Sometimes I wake up by
the door
Now that you've gone, must
be waiting for you
Even now when it's already
over
I can't help myself from
looking for you.
By Music Lover Valery Ivahnenko
She graduated it in 2006.
She succeed in MySpace and
then, Adele got her first con-
tract. Therefore, she has rec-
orded her first single, called
―Hometown Glory‖. Some-
how, this single is a tribute
for Tottenham. ―Hometown
Glory‖ became ―the Single of
the Week‖ in ―iTunes‖, in
April 2008 it has been to
British Top-40 and then it’s
been used as the soundtrack
for British series ―Skins‖.
In 2008 her debut album
‖19‖ became leader in Na-
tional pop chart. On 20 June
2008 this album appeared in
USA where it became #10.
To be continued…
Our Top-5 Adele (number one)
1. Hometown Glory
2. Rolling in the Deep
3. Someone Like You
4. Set Fire to the Rain
5. Take It All
on 5 of May, 1988. Firstly,
she performed in high school.
After finishing the high school
she entered in The London
School for Performing Arts &
Technology. By the way Amy
Winehouse, Leona Lewis,
―Noisettes‖ were also studying
there.
