goal setting & benchmarking how to achieve success using available resources!
TRANSCRIPT
“Success requires training and discipline and hard work. But if you're not frightened by these things, the opportunities are just as great today as they ever were.”
David Rockefeller
What is a goal?An achievement to be obtained at
some future date.
What are you going to accomplish? When will this happen?Who are you trying to reach?Where will it take place? How will you measure the results?
Setting Your Unit Goals
• National Hadassah determines membership and fundraising goals for Regions and Big Chapters; in turn Regions and Big Chapters assign goals to their units.
• Units determine how to meet goals by setting priorities and using available resources.
• Other goals such as leadership, education and communication are determined by units at all levels.
To be attainable, goals need to be…
S - Specific M - Measurable A - Agreed upon R – Realistic T - Timely
Plan activities that move your unit toward your overall goals.
Why are you doing this activity?
How will this activity help achieve your goals?
Can more than one goal be reached through this activity?

If a Goal is the Destination,Benchmarks are the points along the
path that assure you are headed in the right direction
BENCHMARKING – What is it?A measurement tool to gauge both success and need
for improvement.
A standard of excellence by which activities are judged.
A comparison of current performances against past performances.
A definition of successful outcomes, lessons learned,
and best practices.
Benchmarking – How & Why
• Goal – obtain e-mail addresses of 80% of membership by year-end.
• Benchmarks – obtain 50% by end of 1st quarter, 70% by end of 2nd quarter.
• Goal – add 15 new members by year-end.• Benchmarks – add 6 by end of 1st quarter, 12
by end of 2nd quarter.
Evaluate Goals and Activities
• Did the activity meet the set goals?• Given the outcome, were the goals realistic?• Was there a positive Return on Investment of
effort and funds?• Were there unexpected benefits? • Were changes made throughout the process
in order to keep pace with your benchmarks?
