Gobble, Gobble Sight Word Dice Game1. Place all the cards face down in the center of the playing area.
2. The first player rolls the die. She draws and reads one card at a time until she reaches the number rolled on the die. So if she rolls a 3, she draws and reads a total of 3 cards. It is important to only draw one card at a time until the number rolled is reached because of step #4.
3. If the player only draws and reads sight word cards, she keeps all of them and they count for her.
4. But if a player draws a Gobble, Gobble! card at any point on her turn, she must put back some* of her sight word cards into a separate discard pile, along with the Gobble, Gobble! card she just drew.*How many cards does the player discard? The number that was rolled on the die. So if the player rolls a six and draws a Gobble, Gobble! card at any point during that turn, she stops drawing more cards and puts six of her sight word cards into a discard pile. {Players can share the same discard pile.}
5. The player with the most sight word cards at the end of the game is the winner.
Edtiable Sight Word Cards
1. Open this PDF document with the most recent version of Adobe Reader. An older version may work just fine for you. But if you are having trouble, it might be that you need the most recent version.
2. Click on any of the blue boxes and type in your words. Highlight the words and hold down Control + E.
3. A little box will pop up that lets you select your own font and font size from your computer for each word.
4. If you would like to use the same font as the “Gobble, Gobble” cards, go to Teachers Pay Teachers and login. (If you don’t have a TpT account, you will want one. Trust me!) Download and install this free font from KG Fonts to your computer. The exact font I used is, KG Second Chances Solid. See steps 2-3 above for selecting this font.
5. Save your work or print it out.6. Note: If you do not type words in the boxes, the boards will print as blank.
In order to type into the editable fields with the same font as the “Gobble, Gobble!” cards, follow these steps.
*Type your text in the blue boxes on each card. (Remember, you can enter ANY word you’d like, even phonics words!)*Hit Control + E to select your font and size.*Print and play the game!
