5Indiaa country which is booming in the construction and infrastructure sector

with new townships and magnificent buildings coming up everyday!

6With huge constructions and high quality infrastructure coming up in major cities, the scene seems beautiful from the exterior.But the entire scene is not so beautiful from behind the cover.

Construction laborers are laborers who migrate from different regions and states leaving their native villages in search of daily job.

They travel from one area of work to other area along with their families.

They live in a place which is either provided by the owner of the construction company or somewhere near by building temporary shelters.

A big irony is that the people who build these luxurious spaces and townships for us are themselves living in poor and dangerous conditions!

There are more than 28 million construction workers in India at present.

They are destined to live in slums. The surroundings are totally unhygienic. There are no proper facilities for drainage, toilet, potable water, electricity, recreation etc.8The plight of the construction workers

Majority construction laborers are living in Tin sheet (71.5%), Rubber sheet shed (17.8%) and Huts (10.7)

A majority percentage of laborers (66.0%) are living in self-constructed temporary sheds near by construction sites.

These sheds are weak and unhygienic (especially during the monsoons) and could prove hazardous since they allow all the particulate matter and other pollutants of the construction site to easily enter the house.9Some stats

The design would be simple using only minimal material like aluminium sheets and particle boards that are already available in the market. Each prefabricated house would be a simple design of 1 room (at the max 2 rooms) which would accommodate a family of 4.This would help restrict the cost of each house to 1,00,000-1,50,000.25
