I don't expect you to respond at all - I've given up days ago. I don't know why you're doing this to me, you know; not replying, not talking back, making no sign of your presence. I wouldn't be insistent of your existence if I hadn't heard your voice, anyway; a quick, faint exhale of breath. nd that's the only hope I'm clinging to. !ecause that's all I can do. "hen again, my mind could have #ust been making up stuff. It's not hard to imagine that, as I haven't talked to a single soul since$ I don't even know anymore. !ut in th at really small hope that someone might actually still be listening, I'm giving it a chance. little bit more. %very night I tune in to this channel, talking to this metal brick as I try to maintain my sanity. "onight was no different. I'd like to think that there's actually somebody listening on the other end of the line, but for some reason, cannot respond to my cries of distress. In the case that you are keeping up with my nightly stories, then you should probably know who I am. !ut I'll introduce myself anyway , as I don't really want to go on forgetting my name. It's not something I get to use nowadays. I'm &ank. &ank eed. %veryday, I wake, and it's more or less the same thing - (ear. &isdain. &epression. "his kind of life is easily exhausting, and it's a pain that I still haven't ad#usted to it. I suppose it's a result of me not wanting to, anyway . !ecause I want everything back. I want everything to be normal. "his is simply cra)y. nyway , I like to r ecount the days of past. !ut try as I might, I cannot imagine what it was like back then. I've lost the memories, and the images are faded in my head. %verything's #ust a bit too different, now. %veryday , I wake. "he sheets of the bed are tucked messily beneath me. I didn't see the need for them - it was always hot in the bunkers. "hat's why I love our botanical garden. It was the coolest place to hang around in, literally . lthough the place needs a bit more lighting. In fact, every place needs a bit more lighting, seeing as how we're living five hundred meters under the ground. &ue to the lack of sunlight, the plants are looking beat and withered, even with the treatments &r. ( had been giving them. "hat's why we take the plants with us when we breach the safety of the bunkers - firstly , to give them sunlight, and secondly *the most important reason, really+ for our oxygen. "hat day , I was assigned to go hunting with the group's strongest characters. It wasn't much of a hunt, however . ur goal was to bring the animal back to the bunkers alive, hoping to be able to breed them in the future. "here had been many attempts before this one, so the hunters were used to the dirty work. !ut I wasn't.
