Going Strong Year After Year Winning districts and state was a great way for Ms. Carole Carraher to celebrate her 30th year of coaching the one act. The play was a comedy called Mr. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge." Ms. Carraher had never done a Christmas theme. She had originally picked out "Confessions of a Dirty Blonde" for the play, but there where not enough speaking parts for everyone. She wanted more students to be able to participate. The seniors this year were great leaders, I couldn't be more proud, said Ms. Carraher. Officially, English teacher, Kiley Luchsinger, joined the directing staff for the one act. "One act was a huge eye opener for me. I knew how much work goes into a play since I've directed a few musicals, but I was so impressed by how dedicated all the staff and students were to putting on a great show. Ms. Carraher, Mr. Moore, Mama Jack, and a few of their helpers put so much time into this show that I did not think the cast even realized. I learned so much from the directors and was proud to be a part of such an amazing legacy at Gretna High School," said Luchsinger. Everyone has their favorites. It is easy to tell that Ms. Carraher loves comedies the most and everyone always has a favorite character in the play. Mrs. Luchsinger s favorite part about the one act this year was the mischievous elves. It s the smallest thing, but I loved how they added them into the play, said Luchsinger. Those little rascals! They were so fun! Bringing a new meaning to Christmas parties, Mr. Fezziwig, played by Andrew Hayworth preformed the popular hit Gangnam style with the elves.

Playing one of the pouting Cratchit children, Zoe Bullard frowned to the audience. "I do one act because I'm going into performing arts in college and it is good experience," said Bullard.

Waving to the audience, Christian Hadden played a towns person, in London. "The best moment was winning state, it's a great feeling to know all our hard work paid off," said Hadden.

(Below) Playing the role as the Cratchit children, Courtney Zych and Samantha Hannigan were giddy because of their Christmas presents. "I do one act because I honestly love performing and acting,' said Hannigan,"and it's a great way to make new friends."

Dancing with Mr. Fezziwig's daughters, young Scrooge, played by Jacob Heath blushed from the embarrassment of dancing. "One act is the best. I've made new friends by doing one act and you meet people you'd never normally talk to."

As dancers in the program, Benji Fountain, Seth Grimm, and Ethan Boes patiently watch their fellow cast members. "Some of my friends wanted me to do one act and I did plays in middle school," said Fountain "the best part of one act was hanging out in the hotel room at state."

The Ghost of Christmas Present, played by Grace Kimnach, arrived at Mr. Scrooge's home to show him the true meaning of Christmas. Along with perfect scores from all three judges, the one act was the only school in the entire state of Nebraska to receive exemplary scores.

Kaitlyn Everson (15)"I liked to spend a lot of time in the auditorium and on stage. I also liked making new friends."

Brooke Berube (16)"One act was my favorite thing in high school so far. I want to win state again."
