Document Cards

Associative Dimension Links

Dimension link fields create a link between a model dimen-sion and a custom property. Di-mension links maintain associa-tivity to the selected dimension and are updated if the model is modified. Linked dimensions help manage cut length, sheet-metal thickness etc.

Document Cards manage custom prop-erties from an intuitive property page interface within SolidWorks. Document Cards can be customized to contain text boxes, dropdown lists, check boxes, ra-dio buttons, serial number generators, dimension links, multi-line boxes and many other types.

Linked Dropdown

Dropdown lists can be linked to an exter-nal database source using SQL. External links are created using an ODBC connec-tion that supports almost any database format. A linked dropdown list can help centralize data and eliminates the re-quirement for maintenance of data from multiple locations.

Configuration Support

ToolWorks BOM Manager supports both configuration specific and non-config-uration specific custom properties. The “Copy Property” feature copies custom properties from one configuration to one or more configurations.

Intelligent Default Values

Custom properties can be predefined to contain default values like username, to-days date, filename and many other de-fault system values.

Multiple Document Cards

ToolWorks BOM Manager offers support for multiple document cards. Document Card for specific component types can be designed for purchased components, manufactured components etc.

Excellent Overview

ToolWorks BOM Manager provides an excellent Bill of Material overview. Modifica-tions to the Bill of Material will instantly update the custom property in the changed part or subassembly. ToolWorks BOM Manager is the only tool available for Solid-Works that offers a bidirectional custom property manager for assemblies.

Bidirectional Bill of Material ManagementThe bidirectional Bill of Material editor offers the ability to manage custom properties from a top-level assembly

containing subassemblies and parts. ToolWorks BOM Manager can export the SolidWorks Bill of Material to a number of

Exporting BOMs

Bill of Materials can be exported to a number of common file formats. XML offers a language that can be used and read by most common databases and ERP-MRP systems. The XML, TXT or XLS Bill of Material can be updated using the API/Command Interface included in ToolWorks BOM Manager. This feature can be used from a workflow process within PDM systems.
