Majid Davoodi is a qualified process engineer / metallurgist with more than 20 years technical and project engineering experience in mining and mineral processing in various professional engineering appointments in diverse locations such as Middle East, Australia, Canada and South East Asia in metallurgical research, operations, commissioning and process design for commodities such as Copper, Gold, Iron Ore, REEs, Uranium, Nickel, Alumina & Bauxite, Aluminium and other base metals. He graduated with a Master degree in chemical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Iran. Since then, he has been involved in the different mining and mineral industry cycles: Due diligence, scoping studies, feasibility studies, detail designs, constructions, commissioning, processes optimization & de-bottlenecking.He has run many training courses for mining and mineral industry and has developed training and operators manuals for many operations.

Expert Course Instructor

Key Learning OutcomesThe key focus of this course is to provide participants with key skills and useful information they need to know to operate and understand processing of gold bearing ores to produce gold bullions. Participants will learn about the practical applications of the metallurgical principles and methods used in gold processing operations. They will have the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge in the extractive metallurgy of gold by: • Reviewing the history and economical aspect of gold industry • Gaining basic knowledge of gold mineralogy and its deportments • Understanding the basic of unit operations in mineral processing • Reviewing different type of processes and unit operations for gold extraction • Appreciating the role of Metallurgical testwork and balance between process and environmental aspects of gold ore processing • Gaining basic awareness of recent advances in gold industry

Who Will BenefitThe course assumes no prior knowledge and will treat the subjects in sufficient detail to provide a very good understanding of gold ore processing. It has a specific technical focus for technical and business oriented professionals who are either new to the gold industry or experienced in one part but could benefit from a wider perspective. The course is designed to provide key knowledge of gold processing to:

• Metallurgists and process engineers • Mining personnel • Project managers • Geologists (exploration and production) • Mine and processing plant operating staff • Other engineering disciplines and researchers

• Government regulators • Senior Management • Equipment and service providers • Bankers, lawyers, brokers and investors • Non-technical staff (commercial, finance, marketing and legal)

About the CourseGold is among the first metals used by man because itnaturally occurs in its native state. Over the years differentprocess flowsheets have been developed with the purpose of optimising gold extraction from a particular feed material using the most appropriate technology. Due to numerous factors ranging from technical e.g. geological, mineralogical, metallurgical and economical to non-technical suchas geographical, environmental and political, diverse industrial flowsheet for gold production have been developed in differentpart of the world. In this course we introduce participants the basic concepts and operations involved in gold extraction. Attendees of the course will: • Study the introductory concepts of the mineralogy of gold bearing ores and minerals and the effect this has on the method of gold extraction used. • Learn the basic operations and equipment used in gold extraction. • Understand the structure of flowsheets and their application to various gold ores and minerals. • Understand metallurgical testwork required to characterise a gold ore. • Develop skills and knowledge in achieving maximum productivity at minimum costs.
