A TULLAMORE baker was rolling in gold at last weekend’s Dublin Sugarcraft Guild Show after she gained recognition for her innovative novelty cake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Linda Johnson, from Vanilla Bean Bakery on the Daingean Road, decided to turn her love of making homemade cupcakes and novelty cakes when she decided to move home to Tullamore and set up her own business in January 2011.

Having worked in the hotel industry for 20 years, Linda had invaluable experience in setting up and opening hotels and the day to day management of each department and used this to start up her business offering homebaked high quality and unique bakery products.

The mission statement of Linda’s business ‘Vanilla Bean Bakery’ is - “If you dare to dream we will create it” - and her vision and passion saw her rewarded with a gold medal on this occasion.

Linda explained that she had previously secured prizes for her lemon cupcakes and novelty cake at the Tullamore show.

However, it was the first time, the Tullamore baker had ventured into the Dublin Sugarcraft Guild Show, which is a two day event allowing the top sugar crafters and trade exhibitors to come together.

According to Linda, it was a “fantastic achievement” for her. “It was the first time that I had ever entered anything that big before. It was a huge event.”

The business woman added it was also great to get the award as it’s recognition of all the hard work she continues to put into her business.
