Serengeti is the first Jack Nicklaus Signature Course to open in Gauteng province of SouthAfrica. It is also the first full-scale cool-season evergreen grass golf course in the golf-richprovince. Cool-season grasses are evergreen, creating a lush and finely manicured playingsurface all year round.

What makes this new golf development very special to Ernie Els is that his grandfather, ErnieVermaak, grew up on this exact 690 hectares of land in and around 1918, on a farm thenknown as Knoppies Laagte. His grandfather was also the instigator of the golf-fever that

was to take hold of the next two Els generations.

The course was laid out by the then club professional Robert (Bob) Grimsdell (1935), and laterupgraded by Mark Muller (1998).

The RJ East course in particular has hosted many top level events, including South AfricanOpens and more recently the Joburg Open, an event co-sanctioned with the European Tour.

Royal Johannesburg was the first course in Africa to become an Audubon InternationalCertified Sanctuary course.

Pretoria CC regularly plays host to South African Tour events, like the Sunshine Tour. The clubis renowned for being a quality sports and social venue, set in the magnificent surroundings of

Pretoria Waterkloof. PCC boasts with a par 72 golf course, with a parklands layout.

Silver Lakes Golf Club is part of an upmarket residential estate on the outskirts of Pretoria,situatedin genuine bushveld country. As the name of the club implies, there is an abundance of lakes

and attractive water features running through this spectacular course.

The Gary Player Country Club is home to the Nedbank Golf Challenge, an annual invitational event whichbrings together many of the world's top players to compete for one of the richest prizes in golf.

The Gary Player golf course lies amidst beautiful bushveld scenery and is regarded as one of the worldsfinest courses. Stretching over more than 7000 meters, it definitely is one of the world's longest golf

courses. All 18 holes can be classified as difficult. There are plenty of bunkers and water hazards. Thepar five ninth, with its island green, is sure to be amongst the most spectacular holes.

Lost City is design by Gary Player.

The most hazardous area of the Lost City Golf Course is the 13th hole. This par-three hole is shapedlike the continent of Africa. As you stand ready to tee off you will notice the water hazards and 9bunkers guarding the hole. Inhabiting the water are 38 crocodiles, some of them nearly two meterslong. The unusual water hazard is just one of the features that make the Lost City golf course

exciting and interesting to play. No effort was spared in transforming this bushveld into a golfingoasis, thus making this course a masterpiece.
