“Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as

done for the Lord and not for your masters.”

Colossians 3:23

I want to begin by thanking all those

who helped to enhance the Wednesday

night worship services during Lent. A big

“Thank-You” goes out to my wife Angela

(who did the monologue on Rahab), to my

daughter Maranda (who did the monologue

on Ruth), to Janae Wittner (who did the

monologue on Mary, Jesus’ mother), and to

Judy Schulz (who did the monologue on the

prophetess Anna). Each of these ladies put

in a lot of time and effort into their

message, plus they had to speak in front of

a gathering. I also want to thank those who

helped them. It was team effort, and they

did an outstanding job for the weekly

Wednesday night worship services. A big

“Thank-You” goes out to all those who

helped to support the weekly Wednesday

night Lenten worship services by helping

with the meal preparation in the fellowship

hall. Again, “Thank You” for your devotion,

your time, your work, your efforts, and your

talents. It means great deal. I also want to

mention that we had a very good turn-out

for our Wednesday evening worship

services.

Just a friendly reminder— Holy Week

begins on Palm Sunday, March 25, with two

services during Holy Week, Maundy

Thursday (Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.) and

Good Friday (Friday night at 7:00 p.m.). And

of course on Easter Sunday (April 1st

) there

will be two worship services: The sunrise

service at 7:00 a.m. at the cemetery and the

10:00 a.m. service in the church. The Youth

will be taking care of breakfast after the

7:00 a.m. sunrise service, and at 9:00 a.m.

the Easter Bunny will be here to kick off the

Easter Egg hunt for the children. From our

family to yours, we wish you a very blessed

Easter Day and a very blessed Easter Season.

In His service,

Pastor John

WOW

will be collecting blankets

and personal care items for

Disaster Response during the

month of April

A sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of you at

showed our mom, Carrie Luedeker. She loved "her"

church and church family and she appreciated the

cards, visits, and prayers that kept her connected to

you.

Thank you to the Women of the Church for the gifts

and visits, at home and her home in Brenham. A

special thank you for organizing and providing the

reception following the service. This time for

visiting is a special time for families and friends and

a very important, comforting part of the funeral

ministry. Thank you to all who provided food and

helped with the reception. We thank you and thank

God that you provide this time for families.

A special thank you to Pastor for the regular visits

which she so looked forward to. She enjoyed the

conversations and opportunity to take communion.

Thank you and Mary also for the beautiful service.

Obituary

Verlien Kolwes, 84, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2018 at Oak Haven Assisted Living in Industry, Texas. Verlien (Hegemeyer) Kolwes was born on March 10, 1933 to William and Elda (Peschel) Hegemeyer in the Star Hill Community. She was baptized on May 14, 1933 at St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm, Texas and was confirmed at that same church. She attended Henkhaus and Industry Schools and graduated from Bellville High School in 1950. On August 5, 1951, she married Kermit Kolwes at Welcome Lutheran Church by the Rev. Walter Wolf. They enjoyed 66 years together living in the Bleiblerville Community. After marriage, Verlien went to work at Cecil Peschel’s Dry Cleaning in Bellville and then Clarke’s Pharmacy in Bellville.
