1. LINKS BETWEEN LYRICS AND VISUALS

In this shot the artist says “I'm gonna bust out” and the visuals shows she's running down the mountain and there are a group of people following her running down. This is symbolic of them “bursting out”. This may also show that the artist has a lot of power because everyone followed her down.

This is a shot of the car going away at fast pace. This associates with the lyrics because the artist says “hit the gas quick”. This is associated with the car so they could drive faster.

2.LINKS BETWEEN MUSIC AND VISUALS

An association that I recognized between the music and the visuals were going together which emphasises the consistency of the music video. For example there are over 100 cuts in this music video and each cuts are placed with a certain beat. The shot changes every time the main beat drops. Also the movement of the actors go along with the beat which makes the music video run smooth.

3.GENRE CHARACTERISTIC

Bridgit Mendler is from the pop genre and her clothing demonstrates the genre as she is wearing casual clothes such as jeans, vest, shirt, dresses, skirts and jewelry. This is a big part of her image because it shows the audience the type of genre they belong too. There were other genre characteristics' such as the weather. Pop genre connotes positivity most of the time instead of dull and depression so in the music video it was a bright day with the sun shining which emphasises the positive weather. Also the music video had an urban setting which is another characteristic associated with the pop genre. The director used a long shot to show the weather and the setting .

4. NOTION OF LOOKING

In this shot the artist is looking right into the camera which will be used to show the connection she has with audience and it shows that she keeps her audience close to her.

This is a shot of the artist running and a group of actors following behind her. This is used to create a sense of idolising and that she is a role model to many people.

INTERTEXTUAL REFERENCES

Bridgit Mendler intertextualizes with the Disney look because of the sweet, angelic and honest appearance that she carries. However this look will be very hard to shake off or get rid off because she has previously starred in a Disney show. This look was also very hard to shake off for other Disney stars such as Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez.
