    EXT. COLLEGE DORM BUILDING - NIGHT

    A dorm building on a college campus sits during a warmspring night. There is still some snow on the ground, leftunmelted. Some of the lights can be seen through thewindows, some lights are off. One window has multipledifferent colors of lights flashing and strobing. Muffleddance/pop music being played inside can be heard.

    CUT TO:

    INT. DORM HALL

    The music is louder now, coming from a door labeled PATRICKand MICHAEL. The door suddenly opens, filling the hallwaywith music. A girl, AMBER, walks into the hallway leaning ona boy, CHESTER.

    AMBER is tired, looking down at the ground with her eyeshardly open. CHESTER turns to look back into the room to say

    CHESTER(slurring and loud)

    Goodnight guys! See you back athome!

    CHESTER and AMBER continue down the hall towards thestaircase.

    CUT TO:

    EXT. COLLEGE DORM BUILDING - NIGHT

    The couple exit the building in each others arms. Theycontinue walking slowly along the path to a differentresidential area on campus. Clearly intoxicated, CHESTERsays

    CHESTERUgh, I dont think were gonna makeit all the way home. How does thatpatch of snow look for a bed?

    AMBER laughs a little.

    AMBERStop being so dramatic. Look,theres our building.

    CUT TO:

    EXT. AMBERS DORM BUILDING - NIGHT

    CHESTER and AMBER arrive at the dorm building. AMBER swipesher card to open the door and they walk inside.

    CUT TO:

    INT. AMBERS DORM BUILDING

    The lobby of the building is spacious and has somefurniture, including a couch. No longer supporting AMBER,CHESTER stumbles toward the couch and flops down onto it,letting out a tired groan.

    AMBER (CONT.)Chester! Come on, were almostthere. Its almost over.

    CHESTER rolls over onto his back and looks at AMBER, who isstanding in the middle of the lobby with her arms crossed.

    CHESTERAmber?

    AMBERYes?

    CHESTERI dont want it to be over.

    AMBER uncrosses her arms and approaches CHESTER on thecouch. She crouches down so she is face-to-face with him,takes his hand, and rests her head next to his.

    AMBERLook, youre doing whats best foryou... for your education.

    CHESTERI dont care anymore. I want to behappy.

    AMBERYou will be happy. Theres plentyof people to meet at NYU. Yourelucky to be getting out of thisshit-hole, if you ask me.

    (CONTINUED)

  • CONTINUED: 3.

    CHESTERWell it cant be that much of ashit-hole if I met you here.

    AMBER(sarcastically)

    Aw, how sweet.

    They both laugh lightly.

    AMBERSeriously though. Youre going tomake all kinds of connections, workon awesome projects... you mighteven meet another girl.

    CHESTER lifts his head up and looks at AMBER.

    CHESTERWhat? Why would you say that?

    AMBERWell its true. There are girls atNYU right?

    CHESTERThis is why I didnt want to talkabout me leaving all this time.

    AMBER straightens up.

    AMBERWell we have to talk about it! Youthink were just going tocompletely ignore the fact that youwont be around anymore? That wewont be together anymore?

    CHESTER sighs and lays back down, facing the ceiling.

    AMBER (CONT.)Oh so now your next option is tojust completely ignore theconversation while its alreadyhappening?

    (beat)Come on, get up. Lets go to bed.

    FADE OUT.

    OVER THE BLACK WE HEAR:

    AMBER (CONT.)(V.O.)(lightly)

    It was fun while it lasted. Butneither of us is going to be happyif were going to remain alone.

    CHESTER (V.O.)(lightly)

    Just so you know, I wouldabsolutely deal with the distanceif it meant we had a future.

    AMBER (V.O.)(lightly)

    Im sorry Chester. Im sorry Imnot nearly as strong as you are.

    The sound of a beeping alarm gets louder when suddenly...

    CUT IN:

    INT. CHESTERS NEW ROOM - MIDDAY

    CHESTER is quickly awoken by his beeping alarm clock. Hetakes a second to look around and recall the dream he justhad, before he silences the alarm and climbs out of bed.

    CHESTER walks slowly to the window, the bright sunshineilluminating him. He leans against the windowsill, staringout at his new location, but with no emotion.

    FADE OUT.
