Search Engines are vital to a business, simply because they drive internet traffic to a website. The more people that visit your site, the more likely some one is to buy something. This means more money!!

SEM stands for “search engine marketing.” It is the process of gaining traffic from or visibility on search engines. The phrase is also sometimes shortened to “search marketing.”

SEO is the act of modifying a website to increase its ranking in organic (vs. paid), crawler-based listings of search engines

How do organic search listings work? A spider or crawler which is a component of a SE

gathers listings by automatically "crawling" the web

The spider follows links to web pages, makes copies of the pages and stores them in the SE’s index

SEO Based on this data, the SE then indexes the pages

and ranks the websites Major SEs that index pages using spiders: Google,

Altavista, Msn, Aol, lycos

Discuss how you will market the product. (5 mins)

You must use at least 5 of the internet marketing strategies mentioned previously.

You must present your product and marketing strategy on a powerpoint. The presentation should be about 2-3 mins long and everyone must speak a little about the marketing strategy.

You will be graded on this project. It is 50% of your C.A.

Task

You need to research market shares, competing or similar products, and explain the reasons why you implemented your chosen marketing strategies.

You will be graded on the content of your PowerPoint. You will be graded on the neatness and design of your PowerPoint. You will be graded on the research you did for this product. You will be graded on how well you deliver and pitch your

presentation.
